Applewood Restaurant And Bar

My husband and I live close by and really enjoy their happy hour. The food is good for the price and we love their new venue. It's a good place if you are looking for something between Applebee's and High end restaurants. Good food, wine, and service at a fair price. It's a pleasant atmosphere for date night, so we will be back. more

Just ate here, very unhappy about paying over $100 for a dinner with the atmosphere of Denny's. Do not let them sit you at the table for 2 along the wall where every bite or drink you take you need to make sure someone isn't walking by going to bump into you. Food was okay and had a good waiter but I would not go back for the $$$$ much better atmosphere, seating and food elsewhere!!! more

we have been coming to Applewood for several years and have never been disappointed! The new menu provides plenty of options offering both ala carte and entrees. Awesome wine selection featuring many NW wines. Truly vancouver's hidden gem!! more

I love this restaraunt! I wasn't sure what to expect the first time I walked in, but the food was absolutely wonderful and we had great service. We have been in several times since and had very consistant food and service. I would reccomend this restaraunt to anyone! more

Not worth the price. Food is not too tasty. Service is bad. Will never go again. It's a shame to call it a Northwest cuisine. more

I shop at the strip mall where they are located and decided to try it. My husband and I went on a Thursday vening, the staff did not greet us for several minuites. Not becaause they where busy, but because the only waiter was engrossed in a conversation with 2 female customers (The only other 2 people in the place). After looking over at us several times, finaly came to seat us. I ordered the pasta special, my husband had the steak. The pasta was overdone the steak was tough and impossible to cut. The waiter was rude and never checked on us. This place is overpriced, food quality is poor, staff is rude! Hard to call this fine dinning. We stopped by Applewood for dinner on Saturday night and were very impressed. The server was attentive and friendly, and the food couldn't have been better. This restaurant is in a mall, but the food is surprisingly good. Salmon and Duck are always good entree choices, but other items on the menu are also flavorful and well presented. Service is attentive. Portions are good size and reasonably priced. The bartender mixes very tasty cocktails. One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver! I took my mother to this restaurant after tasting some of their food at a friends wedding. Not knowing what to expect, I didn't have very high expectations. Yes, the strip mall it's located in is a little rough, but once we got inside, we were treated to very nice decor which included white tablecloths, soft lighting, and live guitar music. I had the salmon with pacific rim glaze and my mother had the seared duck breast. Both were out of this world. The wine list was quite extensive and affordable, especially for such a small restaurant, and the waiter was very knowledgeable and recommended a very nice Washington merlot. We had one of the best Tiramisu's I'd ever had, and the chocolate torte was amazing. If this restaurant were on Mill Plain, it would be packed. My husband and I have a date night once in a blue moon. We decided to try Applewood up the road one Thursday. We made reservations just in case. We drove up to the strip mall and thought...hmmmm, hope the food is better than the location. We went inside and there were two other parties already seated. He put us at a table closest to the kitchen and subsequent flow at a two top table (my husband is a tall large man) right under a cooling duct. My husband literally looked at me and said - are you kidding? Every table is open except two and this is where our ""reservations"" got us? We both ordered steak - it was fatty and grisly. We decided to pass on wine and just get out of there - so for two ice teas, soup, two steak dinners (which we left more than half on the plate and nary an eyebrow was raised) and a tip it was $74.00 Needless to say we will NEVER be back. By the way, two other parties came in so numerous open tables and we are at a tiny table to from the kitchen under a cooling duct. I froze my butt off. Terrible service (forethought) and food was not remotely unique, good or worth the price. Steak, chicken, great salads and desserts and everything at lunch is under $10. This place really deserves more attention. more
