Applewood Plumbing & Heating

My story starts out like the fake reviews do on these pages. I was out of town needed a plumber to replace a valve in a rental property toilet. I found the positive reviews on all the sites and thought ""well these guys must be good"" \r \r ""Plumber"" Issue Description 'Partial Toilet Rebuild'\r \r Cost Est. $348.00\r \r Non-technical repair description: Replace Flap in bottom of Toilet Tank.\r \r My Response: Laughing, Told the ""Plumber"" not to reenter my property and that if they wanted their service charge to have the owner call me. No response yet. It's been months\r \r This company is owned by people who clearly have noway to make a living off of legitimate work and work ethics. They hire the same types of people as well. Clearly they make alot of money but this by no means qualifies as a true company. A true comapny in the sense that they would make money by providing a valued service, charge accordingly and do not purposely rip off their customers. Tricking people into paying for things they don't need and/or GROSSLY overcharging for services is ripping people off. I'm sure the justification is that people agree to pay so that makes it ok but truely most people don't have the time or inclination to figure out if they are getting ripped off or not. I'm busy and I expect that professionals in an area of expertise should handle my plumbing issues with a certain level of ethics. ANYONE who charges a flat rate per job and can not break down the labor and hardware costs is ripping you off. more

Applewood Plumbing came out to my house to quote me a sewer line repair knowing that my wife is sick and we were desperate they gave me a quote so high, i could buy a new car for that price. I decided to get other quotes and found that they were at least 2-3 the price as companies who have integrity. I don't know why people are so uneducated to actually use their services. Shop around it is worth your time and will save you thousands. more

Applewood was extremely professional. Their customer service team checked in several times during the repair process, and their repairman was very courteous, knowledgeable, and thorough. more

At 5AM on Saturday, January 28, 2012 we discovered that our water had ruptured. I called Applewood and they had Christopher Fannon at our location by 8:30. \r \r Christopher was a complete pleasure to work with. \r \r He not only scoured his sources to find us the best buy available for a super-efficient water heater, he also explained in detail why the water heater we were replacing was not able to meet our needs and sat down and discussed with us what our needs for a water heater were, and helped us to determine the best option available to us.\r \r On top of all that, Christopher went above and beyond making sure our wood floors were not damaged in any way during the removal of the old and installation of the new water heater.\r \r This is not the first time we?ve used Applewood, and it will not be the last either. I would highly recommend them and also Christopher Fannon. more

Furnace went out right before bed on a cold January day recently. I called Applewood Heating and they were here the next day to make the necessary repairs within an hour. Great technichian and great service. I highly recommend Applewood for any heating or AC problems! more

Get ready to be butt plumbed!! Applewood uses standardized pricing which is the code phrase for ""bend over and smell the vaseline"". They advertise their work is done by the job, not by the hour - same scam as car dealer service centers. You'll end up paying 4-5 times what you would pay a regular plumber and get the same results. Their plumbers are some of the best up-sellers I've encountered - more time spent on up-selling that repairing you leak. Don't make the same mistake I did - you'll feel everytime you sit down. more

I have used Applewood for Plumbing, Electrical and Heating, and in all cases they did an outstanding job. Their service employees are professional and courteous. I am always amazed at how quickly they complete the job regardless of how big. more

We recently had a short in our electrical system which we discovered late at night. We immediately called Applewood, and they came out quickly, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it without charging more than the initial quote. I greatly appreciate the service and would highly recommend to anyone needing plumbing, heating, or electrical work. more

Using up-selling techniques (trying to sell you more than you need), Applewood takes unethical approaches in their business by preying on gullible customers. My aunt, an elderly single woman, hired them recently to fix her electricity which died on Christmas Eve. It was ultimately a simple fix that actually should have been handled by Xcel Energy for free (something they neglected to tell her), and quoted her over $6k to do the job because they claimed they found many other problems with her system. When we questioned many of their approaches and reached out to their main office for a supervisor they were quick to get out of there. The whole situation wreaked of scam. After paying them a fraction of their quote to do inadequate work and get them out of the house we later found out by other electricians who had to fix their shoddy work that they have been trying to get away with this all over town and have a number of complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Proceed with caution with Applewood and beware of their practices! more

We had to call Applewood in the early morning after our furnace went out completely .. and the house was very cold..they were at our door within 2 hours and quickly found the problem Chris went to get the part and had our house warming up within the hour. Prompt, efficent and knowledgeable very happy with the service we received, Thanks Applewood. more

They did respond fairly quickly on a Saturday. We knew we just needed a new ignition, but it was Saturday and everything was closed. They showed up and quoted $300.00 and could not tell us the price of the part. Just a flat $300.00?? Kinda FISHY when they can't break down the cost for you. But they knew they had us over a barrel as it was only 15 degrees and 7pm by the time they came, so we had it fixed.--WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR A PLUG IN PART!!!!!\r more

I know some other company may use the phrase 'one call does it all' but it's really true when it comes to Applewood. They helped me solve problems after a pre-sale house inspection that actually improved the value of the house. They also helped me improve a rental property. I am always impressed with how the technicians work - clean and safe. They also are very clear with describing what they will do as well as alternatives. And they provide the prices up front with no 'up-sell' or hidden charges. I would use them again in any situation. more

Used coupon from AngiesList for toilet tuneup.\r Prompt response from company for appt scheduling.\r Customer service reps were communicative, kept in touch about appt time, sent picture of technician.\r Technician was punctual and professional. Did the work and explained what was done. Offered other services but not pushy.\r Would consider this form for other plumbing work. more

Great one day service. Lost electrical in bathroom outlets and fuse box. Electrician was respectful and professional. He listened to my problem and what I had discovered and diagnosed the problem. Repaired and double checked that everything was working properly. This was not a home repair that my husband could fix. Price was high but they have standard pricing per job instead of by the hour. Would use them again in this situtation. more
