Applebrook Inn Pet Resort

We love Applebrook; especially our 2 year old lab mix, Bella!! She is always so excited to go and play with her friends ... both 4 legged and 2 legged. In the 11/2 years that Bella has been coming to Applebrook for day care and kenneling, we have never been disappointed. The staff is always friendly and they all know Bella by sight and name - even though she visits once a week for day care. By the way, the day care is a bargain!! Only $15 for a 6 hour play session. Bella has also kenneled for 7-10 days with no problems. Shannon, the owner, is working very hard to maintain a top notch facility. It doesn't have all the fancy bells and whistles that some of the larger, more modern facilities have, but she is always making improvements and really it is the care and the love that the dogs receive that it most important!! Thanks for loving our Bella and giving her a fun and safe place to play with her friends. Keep up the great work!! more

This place was recommended to us after a horrible experience we had with a very "high end" kennel. I was extremely pleased with their care. The place is not fancy, but the animals are well cared for and very happy - which is what is most important. Our dog was returned very happy and very well groomed. I intend to use their services in the future. Thank you for a job well done!! more

Went only for visit, questionable staff and little run down and dirty in appearance. Talked to about 5-6 people who have used it in past (boarding and grooming) Most have not returned for various reasons, but most raised the first point about the staff and appearence of the facility. I've been going here for two years now and I am so happy with the service. Amy and Shannon are great, I like the fact that the folks that work there are animal lovers and have participated in animal rescues. The place is in the country side so the dogs staying there are not exposed to noise pollution from the highways or other stress factors that you find at dog kennels in more populated areas. They keep my dogs together and they sleep in the same pen at night. I also like that they take the dogs out into the yard in supervised groups. If you have an unsocial dog they let them out by themselves. The have a two acre fenced in yard that they exercise the dogs in and you can see them interact with the dogs from the dog park area that they have. My dog did get Kennel cough there last summer and they had my dog checked out by a vet and called me before I picked her up to inform me. I thought they handled it very responsibly. I started taking my lab Abby to applebrook and she loves it there! Everywhere else I have taken her she has been hesitant to go with staff, but here she just went right with them and never looked back. True the kennel is not brand new or state of the art, but I am certain that she gets wonderful care there. I took a tour before boarding here and couldn't believe how clean it smelled. There were at least 20 dogs there when i toured and I thought it smelled and looked very clean. I would recommend Applebrook to anyone with an active social dog. Pros: Great staff, fun for the dogs Cons: Well dogs play with teeth and nails so I guess the only con is that you risk some scratches to your pet. more

Although I agree with an earlier post that there was an outbreak of kennel cough over the summer, this can be expected in a large kennel where if one dog gets it, all of them are likely to seeing as it is highly contagious. It's similar to a cold in humans. After reading about it, I found that kennel cough can occur in even the cleanest kennels. I respect that fact that I was warned by the staff of the illness going around late in summer. My dog has always enjoyed his stay at Applebrook and I have never encountered any problems. I'm not quite sure what the other two reviews are talking about. We think Applebrook Inn is great, we boarded our dog there while we were away for vacation and he came home without any ailments at all. They have a fabulous 2 acre fenced in park that our dog loves to go to and just run around to his hearts content. If you have a big dog that has a lot of energy there is no better place to take them then here. Pros: 2 Acre Dog Park, Boarding, Daycare, great Staff Cons: None that I can think of. more

Do not board here as it is very dirty and my dog came home seriously ill with kennel cough and I'm sure he had started to cough while he was there. The owners did not have the courtesy to call me back after i called them to alert them of the fact so that they could warn future customers. Not a good spot for pets that you care about. Pros: they "talk" a good game Cons: dirty with a virulent kennel cough virus more

Yipes! This place is horrid and dirty. There have been several outbreaks of eye infections and kennel cough--never mind the fac that those POOR DOGs bark and wail DAY AND NIGHT!!! I can't imagine the stress they must endure. more
