When I hurt my shoulder the doctor I saw opted to send me to physical therapy rather than to get an MRI. The doc figured the injury was just a strain and would get better in time with a little work.
After five sessions with the therapists at Apple Physical Therapy they refused to second guess the doctor, but hinted strongly that it was not a strain but a tear. This was later confirmed by an MRI.
In addition to properly diagnosing my injury without fancy tests the therapists did help ease the pain and start strengthening my shoulder in preparation for rehab after surgery through a combination of icing, electric stimulation, and exercises.
Apple was covered by Premera.
