Fun Times 4/1/2006

Fresh air, pumpkins, critters, apple pie can I get much better? Wonderful for the kid of any age. Oodles of things to do too! The aromas will get you though. The lines can get a bit long (seasonal) but that only gives you more time to shop while the line shuffles along. The candied apples and carmel apples are so good. They also have fresh sweet popcorn that my husband just loves. Too sweet for me though! Parking is fair. This is an outdoor activity, the ground is not even, so care needs to be taken for the disabled. Strollers and such are welcome here. Lots of fun for the entire family. And it is a great place to meet up with your family at. We do this yearly here. more

Apple Holler 10/27/2005

Apple Holler 5006 S. Sylvania Ave Sturtevant, WI 262-886-8500 People go to Apple Holler for many reasons. The food, getting apples, children's activities, and adult parties. We went so the kids could play in the autumn harvest play area. It was fun. They have corn, hay, and cow mazes. A corn pit for everyone to jump around in. A petting zoo with feeding machines. Pony rides. Painted wood cutouts of characters for a fun family photo op. A pumpkin "patch." Tons more stuff! Swings, slides, tunnels - everything a kid could want. The only down side is that kids are kids and when you get a lot in one area, they can be rude, pushy and just plain nasty. (Which of course isn't Apple Holler's problem - just something to be aware of) And today we deal with A TON of these types of kids. So, it prompted us to keep moving and we got to see more stuff. It's free to get in - parking is also free. Most activites cost a few bucks - but nothing is outrageous. Parking can get tricky on the busier days so come early. Bring the camera and have fun. more

Apple picking at its best! 10/4/2005

For anyone traveling north on 41 into Wisconsin, you're close to one of the best apple orchards around. I discovered it when I was driving north and have already been back 3 times! You can pick apples by the bushel in their large orchard, take your kids on a hayride, or sit down to enjoy lunch or dinner at their restaurant. Prices are reasonable. Parking can be especially hard on the weekends- you're probably not going to get a spot in the lot. They have many kinds of apples including galas (my favorite!) more
