Not Worth the Time 4/18/2010

Why use fresh local ingredients if your are going to overcook, over season and in the case of the lamb have no clue how to prepare properly. The Truffle Fries in theory sounded awesome, too bad they were over seasoned and overcooked. The Lamb sounded awesome, however the end result was horrible. Pros: Nice Vibe Music Cons: The Food more

Last reviewer RETARDED 2/21/2010

I love the Appaloosa Grill! I often find myself there 5 days a week! I don't know what the last reviewer was sniffing before they came into the Appaloosa, but I know Tonja and she is not a server, but one of the owners, and would never act like she was described in her own restaurant in front of customers no less! The Appaloosa Grill is a great place to hang out any time of day and I have never had a bad experience there and I have been going for over 8 years. Pros: Two happy hours every day, great food, FREE LIVE MUSIC more

Server on DRUGS 1/12/2010

My friend and I went in for dinner last week. My server was named tonya. She was rude and heard her telling another employee she was stoned. She also stated to the same co worker that her "stash" was in the safe in the office if she needed anything. The service was slow and unprofessional and the food was just ok. Maybe the staff should come to work sober and not talk about drug deals in front of customers. We will not be back! Pros: Nothing Cons: Drugs, rude service more

Great live music and good drinks!!! 4/13/2008

The Appaloosa Grill is a unique place boosting live music 7 nights a week with NO cover charge! And it attracts folks from all walks or life; you'd see the young and hip people, older folks, and suits and ties. The place is not big, which makes it very comfortable and intimate. My own experience started a couple of month ago when invited to celebrate birthday for a friend on a Sunday night with some drinks and dancing. We ordered from the late night menu and desserts when we got there. The food was pretty good and the drinks are awesome. The band playing on Sundays is called Clam Daddys, a Harp, base guitar, 2 guitars and a drummer and others that jam with them. They play really soulful blues that gets people grooving, shaking, bopping, clapping, jumping, and hollering!!! Since then, I've been going back quite regularly on Sundays simply because of great music, sometimes with friends, sometimes just by myself. There are usually quite a few regulars by the entrance where the bands stand is. And there is usually people dancing in front of the band. I?ve yet to check out the other bands that play there, but looking forward to it. So if like good live music, definitely check them out. Bands usually strike at 10. Pros: Free live music Cons: None more

They raised the price, and lessened the servings 1/3/2008

I used to love this place, because the food and service WAS good. I guess they decided to raise their prices for the new year. The price increase would have been no problem, but they also decided to lessen the amount of food they give. My favortie WAS their Colorado chilli, which came with a side of tortilla chips, and cheese. Well, I went to order my usual today, and I recieved a half cup of chilli, and five chips. I'm not just saying that to be funny. They really gave me FIVE chips. I used to pay 5.00 dollars for a Full cup of chilli, and a real side of chips, that you wouldn't bother to count, but as of today, I paid 6.00 for a half cup of chilli and FIVE chips. I called to complain to the manager, and I received a thank you for the information. That's it that's all. What happened to customer serrvice? Normally, when you complain to a company, and tell them you will no longer give them your business, they try and fix the situation by offering some incentive, but not the Appaloosa, or should I say not the Manager Bryce at the Appaloosa. Oh well, I'm sure some other restaurant will appreciate my loyalty. more

BEST FOOD, DRINKS, AND MUSIC 1/3/2008

I HAD ONE OF THE BEST NIGHTS OF MY LIFE AT THE APPALOOSA GRILL. WE CAME INTO THE RESTURANT ON A THURSDAY FOR DINNER. WE WERE GREETED RIGHT AWAY AND WERE SAT WITHIN MINS. I HAD THE BUFFALO FILET WRAPED IN BACON AND MY WIFE HAD THE SALMON COVERED IN A CREAM SAUCE. THE SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD. AFTER DINNER WE STAYED FOR THE LIVE BAND, THAT THEY HAVE EVERY NIGHT, WHICH I BELIEVE WAS SOME BLUEGRASS BAND. THEY WERE REALLY GOOD. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE APPALOOSA GRILL FOR A GOOD NIGHT OUT more

This restaurant made me SICK. 11/19/2007

Atmosphere is good, servers are good, usually not a wait for dinner. I've been to Apaloosa a few times and have generally like this restaurant, but last weekend I got the worst food pois0ning of my life from their Thai Chicken Salad. I almost never get sick from food, meaning that there was something seriously wrong with it.... I don't think I can eat there again without fearing what's going on in the kitchen. Ugh. more

Best service in town, period. 10/21/2006

Appaloosa is my favorite bar in Denver. The second time I ever went there years ago, the bartender remembered what I drank. Appaloosa is known in the community for four special things: 1) the great staff, 2) great all-natural beef ("Heritage Highland") and other fare served late, 3) fantastic live music seven nights a week! Finally, 4) the bar itself is perhaps the oldest in Denver and dates back to 1806! Many complain that it is too loud when bands play, and to them I say, "wah wah, cry baby, CRY!" If you don't like live music, go somewhere else...duh! Bars cannot be all things to all people, and Appaloosa is everything I could ask for in a bar and more! more

Yummy!!!!!!!! 9/10/2006

I love this place for lunch!! They have a really great appetizer - the Roast Garlic Bruschetta - amazing!! Drinks are ok... The main room had a funky (urine-like?) smell that was kind of weird. But I'd still go back!!! Pros: Yummy Appetizer Cons: smelly, slow service more

Bad Food... but OK Atmosphere 6/13/2006

The food is just alittle out there --- I think they tried to hard to make it fancy . Keep it simple if ordering. Pros: Location, Atmosphere Cons: Food more

Best Fish and Chips, Great Specials, Fast. 5/17/2006

The service here is very fast. I first discovered this place over a year ago when I was trying to grab a bite to eat before a movie at the Pavillions across the street. The fish and chips is one of the best I have ever had any where and they can have it out to you in about 5 minutes! This is not based on one experience, this is a consistent experience over many visits. The Quality and creativeness of some of the specials ranks with the Vesta Dipping Grill. This is actually one of my favorite restaraunts in denver. They have followed the unfortunate trend of having live music with their amps turned up so loud you have to yell to have a conversation. Pros: Excellent food., Fast Service., Cool art on walls. Cons: Live Music too loud!, Exspensive. more

It's okay 5/16/2006

I loved the veggie burger and cucumber salad I had here. The service was good. But otherwise the resturant is just average. more

If you love live music 3/8/2006

The Appaloosa Grill is one of the best places to spend a Tuesday evening in Denver. Or any night for that matter. The bands that play are amazing. The staff couldn't be more friendly and the food is phenomenal. If you like being out with other music lovers, you'll love this place. The bar tenders are the best. They are friendly and quick. I've never been at the bar and been unhappy with service. You do have to cut the wait staff some slack. On some nights it is so busy you may have to wait to speak with your server, but remember, you're not the only one there. They do their best and you can tell they are. I would recommend Appaloosa to anyone! Pros: Bands, Waitstaff, Drinks Cons: None! more

Great night out 6/13/2005

We have been to Appaloosa Grill several times. The food has always been good, but the cajun parpardelle is amazing. That's all that I order now. The music can get a little loud, but that's what I expect when there is live music. We would highly recommend the Appaloosa for a night out with friends. Pros: Great food, great location Cons: street parking more

Stay away! 6/10/2005

This place is the worst place to eat in all of Denver. The food is cold and bad and service is even colder. I cannot believe in this day and age that a place like could stay in business, don't even bother...Fast Food is better then this place... Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

What a mistake 12/5/2004

We tried this restaurant a few weeks ago and were treated to the worst hostess (she wasn't even there for 15 minutes), cold unappetizing food, and a waiter that took a 15 minute break (and forgot to have someone check on us!). This place is overpriced and pathetic when it comes to service. Don't bother with anything but drinks at the bar. Pros: location Cons: , cold food more

The Appaloosa Grill 6/12/2004

The Appaloosa Grill is one of the finest dining experiences in Denver! From the moment you enter the charming environs of The Appaloosa Grill, you are immediately taken by the beauty and character of the restaurant. An antique bar from the old Opera House illuminated by glowing orange candles stands out as a highlight. The food was phenominal (I recommend the Buffalo Filet Mignon and the Porterhouse Pork Chop), the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere reminded me of a comfortable British pub. A truly unique and wonderful experience!!! Pros: Excellent Food, Impecable Service, Atmosphere more

good, but not great 3/7/2004

This started out as a great experience. The hostess said there would be a twenty minute wait to be seated and then she seated us in less than 10 minutes! I think it's always better when you under promise and over deliver! From researching it online I knew that the menu had a good selection and the pricing was very reasonable compared to their competition. We had the Chicken Parmesan and the Mahi Mahi. They were both OK. The mahi mahi was really small. The vegetables were crisp and fresh. Overall it was good, but nothing special. Pros: hostess, service, vegetables more

Overrated 12/1/2003

Knowing that this place was started by the owners of the Wynkoop Brewery, I had high expectations for this place. However, I was disappointed. Primarily I didn't appreciate the service, which was very bad, but also the food, which was just average. On the plus side, they make a strong drink. On balance, though, I wouldn't recommend it. Pros: drinks Cons: service, food more
