The word Scam is a bit much for this company. I worked for them for a couple years in the sales area. If you wrote them a check and never heard from them again, that is a scam. ...

A Letter from the Manufacturer 5/12/2011

To Whom it May Concern: This letter is to confirm that Associated Materials, LLC (dba) Alside, Inc. manufactures a full line of windows that include new construction type window products along with a full array of replacement windows. One of our top performing ""best of class"" windows is our 8000 series product. This product is not available to our entire customer base but is currently sold exclusively by Apex Energy Solutions in several markets. Apex is and remains one of our best 8000 series accounts and business partners. Additionally, the 8000 series window is primarily offered to customers on an ""exclusive"" basis due to the high level of professionalism that they possess. Alside does not manufacture nor offer any other window that is identical to the 8000 series window. Apex Energy Solutions does not sell the Sheffield or Ultramaxx line in the normal course of business. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you. Sincerely, Brad Beard Vice President AMI Distribution more

High Prices for a Low End Product 1/20/2011

The alside product that Apex Energy Solutions is selling is not what they say it is. They do try and sell that window for more than what it's worth. I've been in Home Improvement for over 45 years and I know a good product when I see it.\r \r Tips to getting the best windows:\r \r 1. Shop around\r \r 2. Shop around, go to google or yahoo and put in windows and the city you live in, this will pull up at least 7 companies or more.\r \r 3. Compare the u-factor and shgc ratings with every company you shop.\r \r 4. Meet the installers before you sign a contract\r \r 5. don't let anyone sell you\r \r 6. If you are paying more than 400 per window to installed, you are paying too much\r \r Here's two cents from an old guy.....take it or leave it more

Scam is a reach... 1/20/2011

The word Scam is a bit much for this company. I worked for them for a couple years in the sales area. If you wrote them a check and never heard from them again, that is a scam. Now, is the ""promotional home program"" a complete lie...yes. Is this Alside window special made for Apex Energy Solutions..no other companies rename it too. Is it the best window ever created...no.\r \r The marketing is less than truthful, because they dont target homes and give one or two a deal to use as a promo home. Id venture to say there hasnt been a return visit by any salesman to ""take before and after pictures"" ever. They try to set appointments with every house on the street and will sell at the same price range with the same pitch to every single one of them.\r \r The company owners buy the windows from alside....mark them up on a par sheet the sales guys use to get a ""cost"" which has already been inflated to make sure the owners profit and then the sales guy can simply write in as much money as he feels he can get out of the deal on the estimate. Then the sales guy shows the homeowners photo shopped ads from other companies showing thousand $ windows :lol and then plays hardball over his discounted 600$ windows. Any price negotiations is really over how much the sales guy is going to walk out making. The windows are already inflated on the par sheet so the owners get theirs no matter what.\r \r There is a sucker born every day. I have sold windows to educated homeowners and only walked out of there making a 100$. But I have also walked out of deals making 4-5 thousand. If I price the windows at 900 bucks and the homeowner agrees....so be it.\r \r Not a scam, you get the windows, which are good, you might overpay for not doing homework and ""believing"" the sales guy. more

Windows Scam 1/14/2011

This company tried to scam us and all our neighbors by knocking on our door and telling us this one windows from Alside is the best. They tried to sell us a triple pane window with low-e and argon for 560.00 for each window. They also said things that are not true about other windows that we were looking at. \r Be sure to search other companies and get pricing for windows that are comparable to what you are looking for. Get 4 to 5 Estimates if you have to it will save you THOUSANDS!\r \r Don't be scamed in to thinking that Alside only sells this window to Apex Energy Solutions. We found more than 3 companies selling the exact same window as Apex. Also be sure to ask for the u factor and solar heat gain coefficient; this is on every nfrc sticker. Apex tried to give us the glass rating and this doesn't mean anything, you want the unit rating.\r \r If a company has to knock on your door to get business and then try to sell you a product that you were not thinking of buying before. Be sure get other companies to come out and give you a price before settling for the first price you get, cause if seems like a lot of money it is. We did, and saved over 2,000!\r more

Very Pleased with Apex Energy Solutions 1/10/2010

The Alside windows marketed by Apex Energy Solutions are a far superior product compared to ""big box store"" offerings and several other replacement windows that I researched. We replaced our original Pella wood windows which were rotting after 15 years. We are very pleased with the quality of the windows and the quality of the installation. This is the second set of windows purchased through Apex. We replaced south facing windows in 2008 and north facing windows this year. Pros: High quality and very nice installation Cons: hard to reach marketing rep on occasion more

The best product I could find... 2/16/2009

As an engineer, my wife tells me that I am naturally skeptical of everything. Since I wrote this review once and had technical difficulties, I will probably keep this one short. \r \r First, they came to our door and set an appointment with my wife. I almost cancelled since I do not normally buy this way, but I decided to give it a chance. \r \r Their representative arrived on time, was informative and didnt waste our time. He helped me understand their company, and their marketing practices in detail putting most of my questions at ease.\r \r The product is comparable to no other window I could find anywhere. I also shared the product info with an architect friend, and consulted Alside (the manufacturer of the product) as well, confirming everything that I had been told by Apex's representative. This is a great product manufactured by a first class manufacturer that grosses over $1billion/yr. \r \r Next I checked with Angies List, and online to confirm Apex's credibility. I was pleasantly surprised. I have read a few reviews (like one on here) that I found to be most likely fraudulent. \r \r My wife and I decided to use Apex and the triple-paned 8000 window after 4 months of research and a lot of misinformation from many other companies. The contract was signed and reviewed by my attorney, and proved to be legitimate. Next we were told 6-8 weeks for install.\r \r Our installation was completed in under 6 weeks. The installers were clean, and neat and very informative. They explained the entire process as I stood by. They installed all 16 windows and a patio door in about 6 hours. They walked the entire job with me after completion answering my questions and showing me their work. Overall they did a great job, and we instantly saw the results.\r \r Our house is much quieter, warmer, and more attractive. Our furnace seems to come on much less often, and our house is much more ""even"" feeling. I expect to see some decrease to our fuel bills. more

AVOID SCAM 8/5/2008

They claim to be selling windows and are using you as a way to advertise their product. They claim their window is better than the ones you buy at the local stores, Thier not. Beware... Make sure to do your research. DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE. IF IT IS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS. I found the exact same windows they are tring to sell for almost $1000.00 a piece for less than 129.00 online and in the home stores in town. DO YOUR RESEARCH. DONT BE FOOLED more
