Apartments of Yorktowne

New management and owners as of the beginning of the year. Since they took over, new landscaping and sidewalks are being installed. They've already improved parking lot lighting and been installing new roofs. New doors and windows, siding, outside painting, patched parking lots and remodeled interiors and patios are next on the list of things being taken care of. I am impressed. Someone is finally investing in the complex and trying to make it a nice place to live. The apartments are huge with DATA running thru the complex. more

The apartments are big but that is the only good part of yorktowne. The pool is not even open plus the decided to open it at the last couple of weeks to the end of summer! Like seriously that aint cool, more

These apartments claim they have a playground: this is a lie, i have lived there for over 2 years no playground as of now. The pool was only open for one of those years i lived there and only a few weeks. The manager will lock the pool and refuse to open it on a whim. Maintenance will ignore request or do a half a** job, or claim that for over two years they have not gotten the right materials in to fix your apartment. There is no parking lot for some buildings, so you park on the street at your own risk. Crime is all the time here from gun shots, to car break ins, to drugs, and there are at least two gangs in the complex. The walls are thin so you get to hear everything your neighbors is doing above a whisper. My new neighbor I think is an all day night club. When you say something to management even corporate management, they just ignore you. I have even submitted complaints and maintenance request that were typed but nothing has been done. The apartments are large, but hard to heat and cool due to the fact they are not sealed well and no insulation. This was the first thing i asked the maintenance to fix and over 2 yrs later nothing after countless requests. On Thanksgiving they decided to take up my old neighbors carpet, the apartment had been vacant for 3 weeks and nothing done till the holiday. So instead of a nice peaceful Thanksgiving dinner with my family you get to hear banging, ripping, and of course their music cranked all the way up. I will never ever live here again and i recommend you run do not want but run away from this place as fast as you can. Greystar should be ashamed of this place. Well, let's just start with the misrepresentations in the ad to begin with: *The response to maintenance issues is not always quick, I've often waited days... *There is NO playground! Repeat NO PLAYGROUND! *The interiors are NOT upgraded, or if they are, I would hate to have seen them before! Now for the things they don't tell you: *The wiring is not up to date OR code (per an outside maintenance man who responded to a call from me). *The AC/Central heating units are old and dilapidated. *The floors are soft and unsafe (yes, even the upstairs) *The bathtubs peel when you shower. *There are ""water buggs"" (we call them cock-a-roaches up north) EVERYWHERE! *CRIME! CRIME! CRIME! In less than a year, our car has been broken into twice, and there have been two shootings that we have been aware of!!!! One right in our back yard!!!!! *City buses and cars speed all over the place, no sidewalks to walk on. Speed limit is 25, but everyone does about 50. *Windows do not lock and are loose and thin (as are the walls!) anyone could break into them and you hear every little noise day and night. Overall, just wish we hadn't! Price is about right, you get what you pay for and this place is low rent! Pros: Management Girls are Sweet Enough, Close to EVERYTHING! Cons: Where Do I Start?
