I'm a regular customer of Antigone's and live in the neighborhood. It's really a treasure of Tucson. They have an unique selection of books gifts and are always very helpful. more

Scary place 3/21/2006

The one and only time I went to this bookstore was because a University of Arizona professor had put a book for the course on reserve here. I was leery when I parked along the street outside and saw the huge mural on the wall. When I went into the store I felt almost a physical presence of oppression here. There was just something to this store that affected me at a spiritual level and I had to leave. This has rarely even happened to me and I would never go again. more

Support Independent Bookstores! 8/15/2005

Antigone's is a small indepentdent bookstore with a good mixture of local authors, best sellers and special interest books (lots of women's studies, gay/lesbian texts, etc). The store is very comfortable to browse in and the staff is helpful but not overbearing. The prices tend to be a bit higher than at a Borders or Barnes and Noble, but not by much. There is a small kids section and a diverse magazine section. Lots of great journals and cards. more

4th Avenue Treasure 7/19/2005

Antigone Books has been on 4th avenue for while now. It's been a gem in the desert for books not in the generic bookstores. There are books on spirituality, writing, poetry, gay and lesbian, alternative medicine, you name it. Everyone has always been so helpful to me when I've gone in and no one pushes you to buy when you're there. There are comfy chairs to sit and go over your purchase before buying. Go have a relaxing afternoon browsing and reading! more
