Diamond in the Rough 10/23/2011

I always read reviews to help in my decisions with services I choose. Based on the persons bad experience & review previously posted really scared me in going to Anthony's. I inherited my mother's ring in which I needed to replace the center round 10mm stone along with wanting to design a custom creation for my daughters. I am a novice at jewelers, but I know what I want & I know what I like. After visiting Anthony's , I went into several stores, one in Issaquah, Federal Way, etc., and I have to give 5 stars to Anthony's because not only is his experience and tenor valid as a Goldsmith Jeweler, he is one of the only, if not very few Goldsmiths in town that does work himself instead of shipping it off to a third party. The energy of the store is welcoming vs the other stores I have been into & the prices from the other stores, Whew! Anthony spent 5 months working with me on my constant decision changes in my custom design without any expectations of committment from me or payment and not even knowing if I was even going to do business with him or not. He did not know me as I did not know him but he was making sure my custom design was to my liking regardless & giving me his professional input & ideas. There are two sides to every story regarding the bad review in which I discussed my concerns with Anthony after he worked on my design for 5 months. He was professional & cordial in our discussion and Anthony has pretty much earned my trust in this time as no other jeweler in town I felt comfortable with in doing business with and in leaving my special sentimental pieces with. I trusted in my gut instinct Anthony becoming my jeweler. Today He is working on my custom designs & yesterday, I just picked up my mother's ring & Wow! I replaced the 10m round stone with a faceted ethiopian opal along with replacing a 4 prong to a 6 prong head and he repaired the 7 prongs that have diamonds set. I am beyond Ecstatic of the beautiful work, attention to detail and care that Anthony's craftsmanship exudes; I can't wait to see the custom designs next week and I have no doubt whatsoever in them turning out better than I anticipate because I am completely in awe of my mothers ring & so thankful for Anthony. This is my 1st review I have ever left for any establishment in which I strongly feel is warranted based on my experience with Anthony's; and to think I almost did not give him a shot due to the previous review that was left. I highly recommend Anthony's Jewelers to Everyone who wants quality work done; he offers the fairest price in town and your work is done right in the store you walk into by Anthony & his Son. more

wedding ring gone bad 3/15/2010

In January of this year I took my wedding ring into Anthony's jewelery to have it rodium plated (white gold). In March of this this year I took the same ring back to Anthony's to have a couple diamonds that were loose tightened up. When the ring was returned to me after having the diamonds tightened the rodium was mostly removed and now my ring was part gold and part rodium. The ring looked terrible. If that was not bad enough my ring had dents all along the sides of all the diamonds that had been tightened. I was sick. I handed them a beauitful ring with a couple loose diamonds in it and I was given back a mess. When I pointed out my displeasure in the part gold part rodium setting that Anthony's had damaged and they did not take responsibility for this mess. When I showed Tony the owner of Anthony's the dents along the sides of the tightened diamonds he took my ring and used a dremle to attemt to remove the dents. The dents were to deep and could not be removed without removing all the gold from the edges off my ring. I am sick about this. I now am having to have my ring reset. I can not bear to look at my once beautiful wedding ring in this condition. Shame on you Anthony's . I just can not believe that you would hand a customer a ring in this condition and not take responsibility for this misfortune. Pros: they do not take resposiblity for there work Cons: Anthony's wrecked my wedding ring more

  • As a sophomore in high school, Anthony Ethier started his apprenticeship, with his father Leon Ethier, at Leon's Jewelry on Kent's East Hill. After graduating high school he worked for Stuart's Jewelers for a short time and received further training at North Seattle Community College. In 1979 he began working for Milton H. Sholdt Manufacturing Jewelers at the 4th & Pike building in downtown Seattle for 10 years. He was chosen to be a promotional jeweler for Ben Bridge to travel up and down the west coast setting stones in Ben Bridge stores. In 1987 Anthony opened his own wholesale business at his home. For seven years he worked for local jewelry stores, doing custom and repair work. In 1994 he opened Anthony's Jewelry & Goldsmiths in Covington Square shopping center where he has been serving the community ever since. Anthony's son Alex, started his apprenticeship at the age of 14 working a few days each week after school, practicing the craft and art of Jewelry. For five years Alex worked as a Sales Associate in the Kent location, changing batteries, sizing watch bands and serving customers. He came back to the bench and attended some basic jewelry classes at the age of 20. Since then he has gotten his Accredited Jewelry Professional Diploma from the Gemological Institute of America. Alex has been refining his craft towards his ultimate goal of taking over the reigns of the family business, continuing to serve the community that has been part of his life in the same manner and spirit his father Anthony has provided to the public. .
