Ann's Costume & Magic Shop

I rented an Elvis costume for a school play to be worn by a faculty member in a school play. It was not until the first dress rehearsal that I got a good look at this costume. It was filthy. The zipper placket was torn, hooks and eyes missing, fabric pilled throughout, stitching at crotch\r missing. There were stains throughout, the underside of the hem nearly black. The worst, there were urine stains in the fly area. It took me 2 hours to clean this mess up and re-sew it. I was down to serious crunch time, being responsible for making and/or altering about 40 costumes. I was never concerned about the rental! When I pressed it the stench of body odor was pervasive. I doused it with Febreeze and let it air outside. When I returned the costume I had a litany of complaints. The owner was unimpressed and offered me $15.00 off the $130.00 rental fee ""for my time."" DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE unless you have the time to launder or dry clean the costume. The teacher was a good sport about putting it on although he was grossed-out. By the way,I posted this on Yelp, it showed up that day but disappeared today. I have never, EVER done a negative review in my life. more

This is horrible. First of all, this looks like the type of place you would walk into and either be possessed by Satan or murdered. Its old, smelly, dimly lit, and super cluttered. I came looking for a Cinderella costume for Into the Woods. The owner wouldnt shut up about how experienced she was, but when she showed me the costume options, they were ugly, cheap looking, dirty, ill fitting, and uncomfortable!!! Annnnd they were at least $95 for one day of rentals!! and to get to the dressing room, i had to climb over this huge pile of clothes and then the dressing room had no light, it was so dark that i had to use the flashlight on my phone. I am never going back there again it was terrible more

I rented a costume from this place and was very dissapointed. Once i left the very dimly lighted store and looked at the costume closer I could see that it was very dirty. I do not beleive it was ever cleaned. The store itself is very disorganized. When I returned the costume i told the owner that it in fact was filthy. There was absolutely no reaction from her whatsoever. this costume cost me 155.00 which consited of a Dracula cape a bow tie and a necklace. I understand that as a business people need to make money and I would have been glad to pay for quality.....NOT a dirty costume. I really feel that she should have offered a partial refund and because she failed to do that i will not be returning to this establishment. more

Anne's costume shop is unorganized and the costume I rented was dirty I know and could tell she does not send the costumes out to be dry cleaned and I was charged 97 dollars for a dirty dingy dress thank god the kids were too young to tell the difference !!! more

horrible store, messy, overpriced, low quality. once you drive and show up you'll be like why am i here more

The woman there was very helpful and patient with me and my husband.She gave us alot of ideas and we are super happy with our Indiana Jones and Betty Boop costumes. We even got the most adorable Hershey Kiss costume for my 1 yr old nephew. We will hopefully be back next Halloween. Thanks! more

This costume shop is a reliable venue to RENT quality costumes. It may not be pretty or arranged to the latest feng shui theories, but the owner, Ann, is quite organized and she will have you walking away from her store satisfied and looking, respectably, like the character you set out to impersonate. From first impression, you may think Ann is unorganized. Nothing could be farther from the truth. It's more that the store has limited space...but not to worry. She disappears behind her curtains to the stored costumes and comes back in sixty seconds with either nearly or exactly what you want. I'll admit, she can be pricey...and she knows how to get each nickel out of you, but it is a supply and demand market and since she has what you want, be willing to pay. She is not beyond negotiating, however, so long as you are not insulting. Some friends of mine celebrate Halloween in June (in addition to October) so I visit Ann's at least a few times each year. i asked for an eeyore costume to propose to my girl. ann's costume shop was the only shop in New York and New Jersey that had an adult sized eeyore costume shipped to the store. when i got to the store i was amazed at the QUALITY of the costume. it could've been worn at DISNEYWORLD.... the price was right and the costume worked like magic. my girl's dream came true...eeyore made the night magical...and ann's costume store made it happen! great people-A1 service and professional! I needed a costume for my son that was hard to find. The owner was very helpful and spent alot of time with me. She has alot of stuff there and I have no idea how she keeps track of it all. But either way I was please since she was the only place we went that had what my son needed. Pros: service Cons: parking more

I love this store. there are so many different costumes I was amazed. The owner, Ann, was very helpful. I've never been to a costume store like this. It maybe small, but it really does have everything. more

With Halloween being my favorite holiday, Ann's costume shop has a wide variety of costumes to purchase and to rent at reasonable prices. Parking can be alittle tough and the shop is small. more

The place is way too crowded and I have no idea how the owner knows where anything is in that dump. She talks to you forever and never shuts her mouth and she over charges you for old clothes that look like they have never been washed. The whole place just sees really sketchy to me and i would only go there if it was a last resort. more

The store is over crowded. The costumes are old and dingy. Frankly, they appear to be used but being sold as new. While the store represents that they have everything you need on the phone ( to get you in the store), they are not nearly as well stocked as it should be. Pros: parking was easy enough Cons: items appeared old, dingy and pre owned more
