Do Not Consign Here, Get Your Items Back Now (If You Can) 3/11/2011

Yeah, this place isn't that great. I don't recommend consigning any items at all. They claim to provide you with a 40% commission for the items but they don't. I thought this place was legit considering the high end items this store sells - I was sorely mistaken. I was lured into this place by the fancy items displayed by the window. I ended up buying a few high end items for a pretty exceptional price. As a buyer and veteran of consignment shops, I noticed 2 peculiar things about this second-hand shop: (1) they do not have price tags on any of the consigned items so it instantly led me to believe that the price might vary from sales associate to sales associate (2) when you purchase the item(s), your receipt does not identify what you purchased it only says the price. The fact that there are no price tags and the receipt does not identify what you purchased make it very difficult for any consignor to claim their 40% commission - how do they know what their item sold for, how do they know if their item was sold or lost? How do they know if their 40% commission is correct? I rarely consign items - if I do it is because I could not sell it on online - but this time I chose to consign with this shop. I brought in a valuable item that retails for $2.2K new. I was reflecting on what a great deal I received at this shop so I decided to look up the store online and I stumble upon all these poor reviews. I decide to inquire about my item and try to collect my item and I am told by one employee that my item is unsold and told by a second employee that my item is sold. They both then agreed that it was sold. I then retaliated by asking for my 40% commission because I did not believe that it was sold. It was then that I was told that though the item was sold the person had not paid for the item yet. Any wise sales person would not commit to selling a person an item if they did not pay for it - they would merely sell it to whomever pays for it on the spot. **Point blank: Once you hand over your item to the store, consider it gone. Don't expect to acquire it back even if you see it on the window or on a hanger at the shop. If your item does sell, expect to get very little for it. As for my $2.2K item (which probably would have sold for at least $600-$800 used) was supposedly sold for less than $250 and my 40% of that was less than $100. It was a complete ripoff!** I'd love to see every person who has recently consigned here to all meet up at the store at the same time on the same day and fish out their items and walk out of the store whether the sales associate or owner agree or disagree. :-) more

MOST HORRIBLE CONSIGNMENT IN WORLD 3/1/2011

If I could give them negative stars I would. I brought a diamond ring, several coach bags and a floor length cashmere Burberry coat here. They told me they wouldn't put anything on the floor until we had agreed on the price. I kept checking back and the store would be closed for weeks at time, not answering their calls. They kept changing their minds, saying they hadn't put anything out, then they had but couldn't tell me what had sold, then everything sold all of a sudden. They originally told me they would price my coat at $800 because it was originally $2000, but the owner sold it for $100!!! When I got upset and asked him why he hadn't sold it for what we had agreed on, he only said, ""Oh, I don't know how that happened."" They are horrible people there, they will steal your stuff and not give you any money. They don't keep accurate receipts, and I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't sold any of my stuff and was just making up a number. Don't bring your things here under any circumstances. I'm in the process of taking him to small claims court right now. more

Former Employee Here's the Deal 2/1/2011

Upscale resale shop coming to Dennis village My son [William Connelly III] plans to open an upscale resale shop in the former Armchair building,” said William Connelly Jr., whose Upscale Emporium, an antiques consignment shop, is just across Route 6A from the site. The younger Connelly expects to have the lease signed soon and be taking clothing and jewelry consignments by mid-February. William F. ""Billy"" Conley Jr. of Dennis and formerly of Natick, a retired engineer for GTE, died Dec. 17 at his winter home on Hutchinson Island, Fla. He was 60. BRISTOL — Three valuable paintings stolen in a brazen 1976 armed robbery in Shrewsbury, Mass., are in the hands of the FBI, after they were surrendered by a Bristol attorney who received them from his brother, a Barrington art dealer, as collateral for a $22,000 loan six or seven years ago. Read the facts of the court case filed Monday in federal court in Providence. Investigators don't know how Barrington resident William Conley, the proprietor of Upscale Emporium at 280 County Road, ended up with the paintings, which he gave to his brother, Bristol attorney Dr. Patrick Conley, below, as collateral for the loan. The paintings were stolen at gunpoint from an affluent Shrewsbury home on July 1, 1976. Get it now? more

Warning Terrible Scam 1/7/2011

Annabelle Jones is currently the biggest scam in Boston! Please do not cosign here and do not purchase items here if you want a clear conscience. William (the owner of the store) heads up the operation and his employees play dumb while feeding lie after lie. I consigned items here and when my consignment time was up I went to collect my money or my items. My items (consisting of brand new Christian Loubouton heels, A Chloe Paddington bag, a pair of Prada shoes and a pair of Gucci shoes) were nowhere to be found and neither was my money. They gave me the runaround for months. Claiming my check was available and then I would go in and there would be nothing. After 5 months and approx 12 visits to the store I was able to track down William. He lied about the prices my items sold for and wasn’t able to provide me with a receipt or any documentation. He issued me a check for $140 that bounced. I am amazed that this type of place remains in business. William should be in jail. more

DO NOT CONSIGN !!! 12/18/2010

If you are getting the run around....document everything...go to the police in the town of Dennis or Boston and file a complaint. Also file a complaint with the Consumer Assistance Council. Both of these should help you.\r DO NOT SIT BACK , FORCE THEM INTO A CORNER.\r They do stall you and the staff will say "" I am just helping out."" These are very seasoned people. William, wife, daughter and son. more

It would be wiser to make a donation to someone deserving 11/2/2010

It would be prudent for citysearch to re-write it's editor's review posted when this business opened. Annabelle Jones has clearly become a scam with scores of jilted customers. Readers who only read as far as your staff's respected editorials are left with a false impression that this is a viable business. more

Do not give your beautiful clothes to this scam 10/26/2010

This store has 2 branches and a string of people unhappy with them. I brought them 65 peices of beautiful almost new deigner clothes in June 2010. They promised that I would get 40% of every sale. After 4 months with not a single check, I called a number of times. They were always busy or just did not answer. Finally when I said I was going to report them, I got a call back that 12 items had sold and I would get a check for $80 in November. I do not expcet to see the check or my beautiful clothes again. more

Very Disreputable Company 10/24/2010

My wife took several pieces of used, but expensive clothing to this shop for consignment resale. They said they would contact her when something sold, but never did. She contacted them several times, but they were never able to confirm a sale. Finally she stopped in one day October and they said they sold an item for $135 in July and then issued her a check. The check bounced. They can't seem to locate her other items. more

SCAM 6/25/2010

First of all, their number is 617-236-0707. I memorized it because I had to call SO many times to ask about my products that I consigned with them. At first, they told me that the check was sent out that morning, then next week, they told me that it will be sent out that Saturday. Every week I have called them, they have some excuse on why they can't give me my money. Due to suspensions, I was researching on Annabelle Jones and found out that the owner of the store (he owns both the one in cape and in Boston) had to shut down a previous store and kept everyone's money. He is known to screw everyone SO do not go there! The employees suck.. they don't know what they are talking about and I will NEVER ever consign with them again. the BIGGEST mistake ever. Pros: Great items Cons: SCAM more
