Anita's New Mexican Style 4/26/2010

We've been going to Anita's since my kids were tiny and they are now in their 30's; also, I have never felt like remarking about any restaurant online before, but since we've moved out of the area and since we're coming back for a visit, I wanted to see if Anita's was still there because my mouth salivates just to think of their sauces. There's nothing fancy about Anita's, but having lived in New Mexico I can vouch for their authenticity, their patio is family friendly and lively, and if I could live back in Fullerton, I would once again be a visitor of Anita's as often as I could afford it. Their prices are quite reasonable but the economy keeps people from going as often as they might like, is what I was saying. Pros: Best New Mexican Style Food west of the Rio Grande Cons: can't think of any; service is great! more

Get transported to New Mexico! 1/5/2009

If you never had tasted New Mexican cuisine before - Anita's is the real deal. Just like how Grandma made it in Albuquerque, the chile is real, the meals are for real and everything is served in good portions. I hope this place stays around forever... Pros: Authentic NM Cusine Cons: too far from LA :( more

Homestyle with a Side of Honesty 8/20/2007

This is the yummiest food on this side of the New Mexico border. I have been ordering red and green chile from the internet for years trying to obtain the New Mexico flavor. Anita's has it! Great food, decent prices- awesome service! \r \r It's a little cramped and not too comfortable but the food is great! I have been in there three times when someone has come back looking for a lost wallet or credit card left behind and they always have it! They are honest, hard working folks who are keeping their family business alive! I would love to see them expand but not at the expense of their food. \r \r Pro: Yummy food\r Pro: Good Prices\r Pro: HONEST and polite people\r Pro: Fast Service\r \r Con: Cramped and small with extremely uncomfortable booths\r Con: The Spanish Rice (could use some improving)\r Con: Only beer and wine =(\r Pros: Food & Service Cons: Ambience & Rice more

Anita's Stuffy 5/22/2004

Anita's New Mexico Style restaurants name says alot, truely Unique spice and chillis, only found in the New Mexico area are what set this restaurant apart. The Stuffy dinner is superb! Take a sopailla (a puffy deep fried bread) and ""stuff"" it full of carnitas cooked in a green chilli (for 24 hours) add more green chilli on top, rice, and beansand this is a meal. You will find two more sopapillas served with honey as the dessert. this is a meal and a taste not to miss, or forget. Other items of note are the big red and green combo, indian taco, and fresh taquitos. Worth the drive (alot closer than Albuquerque). Pros: excellent food, homey atmospheare, prompt service Cons: , small parking lot more

You'll Think You're in Santa Fe 2/4/2003

Anita's may be the last New Mexican restaurant left in Southern California. We've been going there for 17 years now. If you haven't tasted the difference between New Mexican chili seasoning and South of the Border tomato paste chili seasoning, you owe it to yourself to get to Anita's no matter where in SoCal you are. If they ever go out of business you'll have to travel to the Pueblo country to taste the cuisine. The menu is varied, but the specialty of the house is the several dishes that are made with Carne Adovada (carnitas with an indescribably good true New Mexican seasoning). I never order anything else. Restaurant has a homey Southwestern feel, but it's cramped inside and the patio dining area is outfitted with cheesy plastic lawn furniture. But you're not going there for the atmosphere -- it's the food and nothing but the food. Pros: Unique S/W cuisine, Moderately priced, Good service Cons: Cramped, Not upscale more

Different 9/5/2002

Not your typical ""Mexican"" chow, different flavors and dishes entreat the taste buds. Pros: Hot food more
