I am very disappointed! 8/18/2011

I bought a very expensive pomeranian puppy with breeding rights from Melissa at this vet office over a year ago and was promised his AKC papers in the mail within a few months. Needless to say, I have not heard from Melissa or recieved my $900 pom's papers. If I had to do it over, I would never buy any animal from Melissa! She is a liar and obviously only cares about $$. Dr. McGuire must get a percentage for letting Melissa use her vet clinic to sell and adopt animals out of. Very unprofessional! more

Great Vet 6/20/2011

I've been taking my dogs to Dr. McGuire for well over a decade. Prior to finding her, I searched high and low for a vet that seemed to actually care about my animals. On the first visit with Dr. McGuire, she got down on the floor and let my dogs check her out and lick her. She?s the only vet I?ve ever gone to who has done something like that. Over the years, she's been respectful, kind and caring towards me and my dogs. In what I?ve experienced at other vets, the cost seems to be comparable. Since she and her staff have treated my dogs like they were their own, if it does actually cost me more to see her, I'm willing to pay it. She's never jumped to the most expensive treatment - always being conservative in treatment when it was safe for the animal to do so. Her staff have been helpful for the most part; obviously some more than others. When I had to take one of my dogs to after hours emergency care, they notified Dr. McGuire?s office and a staff member called me the first business day to see how my dog was doing. Yes, there is often a wait to see her. However, she TAKES HER TIME examining the animal, asking questions about the issues they may be having and answering any questions or addressing any concerns I have. Doing this with EVERY PATIENT she sees sets her behind. I?ve never felt that me or my animals were just numbers and dollar signs to her. I will say that I do NOT like the other vet who works there so I make sure it's Dr. McGuire I'm seeing when I make an appointment. My dogs are family members to me and she respects that relationship. Any confusion or issues that have arisen have been handled in a professional manner. I recommend her to everyone because I trust her completely. more

They treat your pet like its their own 5/15/2010

I am saddened to read the negative comments about Dr. McGuire and her practice. I have had completely the opposite experience in the more than seven years that she has cared for our Pomeranian. Unfortunately, our dog has had more than his share of serious health concerns. But it has given me great comfort to know that no matter when or what we were facing, Dr. McGuire would be there for us. As for false claims of being overpriced--you get what you pay for--but I also know that Dr. McGuire has cut our bills significantly at times. Not only is Dr. McGuire wonderful, but her staff are wonderful and caring as well. I don't know many practices where the staff know patients (animals and people) by first name. They honestly care about your animal and about you. When a friend of mine lost her beloved cat, the entire practice was compassionate and caring--it made a big difference to her. Don't listen to the sour grapes reviews on this site. Animal Medical Services is top notch. more

This place was a NIGHTMARE!! 8/26/2008

My dog was showing symptons of kennel cough so I got an appointment right away, which they charged a $65.00 emergency fee compared to $40.00 to get him in the day I called. While the Doctor was examing him she did bloodwork, gave him a shot and when I went to pay they told me it would be $300.00, she did other services not approved by me and did not tell me there would be extra costs and she also gave him 3 prescriptions which I thought was excessive. All I came in for was an antibiotic for his kennel cough and it turned into a NIGHTMARE!!!! Cons: they will do unnecessary extra services and not tell you it's extra till you go to pay more

Good Vet, Unprofessional staff. 3/28/2008

I have been impressed with the Vet Carolyn McGuire- however when I went in to see what cat's they had for adoption it was another story. The place was a zoo. The girl who brought the cat out didn't know where she came from, how old she was or what was going on. She told me she was one year old, then another girl told me she was two years old. When I filled out the paper work and left with her, I was confused and felt discouraged that no one seemed to know anything about the process or the cat. Pros: Good Vet, although she didn't wash her hands from visit to visit that I noticed. Cons: Very unprofessional staff, especially in the adoption area of business more
