Animal Medical Clinic-Dulany

After adopting two sweet kitties shortly after moving to Maryland, we wanted a vet that was in the area, and we came across Dr. Renee. Both her and her staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and do everything in their power to help your furkids. Like others have mentioned, we had to go through the painful decision of putting one of our kitties to sleep. She cried right along with us, and she was just so compassionate through the whole process.\r \r We have since moved from the Timonium area, but we still use Animal Medical Clinic for our veterinary services. While our furbabies are not fond of the car rides, they do enjoy the treats they get at each visit!! more

We have taken our two Siamese cats to many vets over the past 11 years but have stopped looking for a great vet now that we have found Dr. Chrest. She is *extraordinarily* compassionate and so is her staff. When we brought our extremely ill cat, Tammy, to her last year (too late to save her), Dr. Chrest kept her all day to administer fluids and try to save her. The staff member who took care of Tammy all day called the next day while we were in the office to check on Tammy, since she wasn't working that day. I expected an exorbitant bill (and was willing to pay whatever it cost) and was surprised with a very reasonable bill. When we put Tammy to sleep the next day, Dr. Chrest kissed Tammy, hugged my kids and me and had us stay with Tammy while she was put to sleep. When it was all over, her staff returned her to us in a sealed box, decorated with Tammy's name and pink hearts drawn all over it, ready for us to bury her. This gesture was so above and beyond, I feel compelled to tell others how amazing Dr. Chrest is! more

We've been using Dr. Chrest for at least 7 years, and we always thought she was amazing. But after having to go through the ordeal of putting one of our dogs down, I know there is no other vet we would have wanted by our side. She -- and her staff - were so incredibly caring and thoughtful through the entire process. I'm sure they see it in their office every week. And yet you'd never know that it was ""just the course"" of doing business as a vet the way she cared for us. On an ongoing basis, at every appointment, Dr. Chrest gets right down on the ground with the dogs, gives them lots of love and is so gentle. She really cares about them and cares about the owners too. I've never met any vet like her. I saw one negative review here -- and I found it shocking. Of course you have to pay your vet bills! Anyway - I highly, highly recommend her to pet owners. She's the best! more

I own a LARGE German Shepherd and Dr. Chrest always completes his exam (nail clipping and all) right in the waiting room. Buster would never go into the exam room because he gets anxiuos in small places and Dr. Chrest's concern over his anxiety level spells volumes about the level of care given by her practice. When Buster first starting going to the Animal Medical Clinic it took three adult women restraining him to get through his ""mani-pedi"" but after two pain free nail clippings he rolls over and barely notices Dr. Chrest. As a medical professional, with enormous responsibility for adult medicine, I know a person who is well informed, careful, and competent. This woman is outstanding, better than any vet we have ever had before. She is kind and has a wonderful way with animals.\r \r I can only surmise that the woman who was offended because of hte way her cat was handled undertands cat behavior very poorly--and how to manage one is an art. It could be easily minsinterpreted if you did not know much. Similarly, re the other concern on here, if my cat was given a chance at life but it did not work, I certainly would not blame that on the vet. When you look in the mirror and you do not like the face you see, is it the mirror's fault? Or is that abstraciton too difficult for you to understand. People who are upset like to ascribe blame. In reality in all health care, you win some and you lose some.\r \r This is a wonderful vet whose practice does not deserve that ungly slam from 2 reviewers and I urge the rest of you to discount it. I have been through enough with my animals and as a doctor, myself, know that this is a stellar vet. Do not hesitate tot ake your animals here unless you have delusions or do not understand animal care well enough to adjudicate qualitywhen it's there. Dr. Chrest was referred to me by word of mouth. The person whom referred me was in the process of moving (appx 35 miles from Timonium) & stated she would still be using Renee as her vet. I see why. She is extremely thorough and compassionate. She spent almost 90' with us during my dog's first visit. She always follows up on the phone between visits, offers late hours, and appointments 6 days/week. She has a genuine love for animals and is empathetic towards thier owners too. This office has a few notes for caution like multiple cats running around at all times, and a staff that is sometimes young and inexperienced but the loving care is unmeasurable. Renee has a love for animals that is very unique and non clinical. She's honest and will never try to talk you into more than you need to do in order to make more money for herself the way other doctors do. I know because I've insisted on more testing than I needed for my cat and found out that she was right all along. If anyone should be bitter it should be me who learned after a second opinion that I should try a different medication for my cat which worked great. But all I have to say about that is that pet owners need to research and learn on their own too and when it comes to regular exams, there is no one I would rather see than Renee Chrest. BTW the specialist with the great medication was still insisting on me buying Science Diet from them at 3 dollars per can after I told them that my cat WAS on that and got sick during eating it. Science Diet is not miracle pet food! It's just expensive and promotes urinary tract infections. Vets recomend it because they get it cheap as do shelters. They also recomended MORE of the same tests because they didn't do the first ones themselves. Sorry, my baby has been through enough and he is healthy and happy right now. sierrahermer and 12348 are idiots. I worked for Dr. Chrest for a summer in high school and I have never worked with, or even known, a nicer person. I'm sorry, if you didn't like her because your cat died, well you should grow up because death happens and maybe you're a bad owner. I love animals, don't get me wrong, but things happen and animals die every day. She loves everyone who walks through the door, and cares about every animal to the extent that she stays HOURS after closing hours to take on more cases and emergencies and even does house visits. And you say she doesn't care? And she's deceiving? Well, you both are idiots. This is the nicest woman, and she has been through a lot of personal issues in her life and still manages to be the best. I've worked for 3 different veterinarians, and she is by far the best, most competent of them all. So don't tell me she's not compassionate, or deceiving, or a bad doctor. She's not, you don't know her at all, and you're bitter because you lost your cat, or have some personal beef. Get over it, get a new cat, get a life. Dr. Chrest is one of the nicest, kindest people I've ever met in my life, AND she is also very knowledgeable in her practice. My father was a practicing veternarian for 30 + years, and since he has stopped, he recommended we use Dr. Chrest. This is the absolute worst veterinarian I have used in my 30 years of caring for pets. Dr. Chrest is a total phoney. She encouraged me that my cat would get better...the cat was there four days and had to be euthanized because it was really too sick. No big deal...we all make mistakes. However, when you own your own practice, are the only vet that practices there, lives in a million dollar house, please do not apologize that you have to charge me the full amount...$1,000...you don't! Cons: Staff...yanks the cat out of the carrier w/out knowing the termperament of the cat. My cat did get away and almost ran out the door. more

I found Dr. Renee after visiting four different vets. My dog warmed up to her instantly and previously my dog was horrified of vet offices. You can tell Dr Renee really loves her work and the animals. There is a real relationship versus a take a number and pay kind of a deal. I moved out of state and still drive back in order to keep Dr Renee as my vet. Seriously, if you love your animal and want some one you can trust, go to Dr Renee. Pros: She doesn't over charge for services, it's completely fair Cons: There is an in house cat, so if you're allergic, that's about the only con you'll have. more

Renee Chrest is the best vet my three cats have ever had. I have been taking my cats to Renee and her team for about six years and found her to be professional, friendly and extremely patient. She answers all of my questions, listens to all of my silly cat stories and provides an excellent level of care to my ""kids"". I knew I had found a winner when my oldest cat ""spooky"" didn't bite Renee during the examine. This cat has more bites under her belt then any cat out there. Renee is a great vet who treats your family like they are her family. Her care has been outstanding since day one and I would never take my cats anywhere else. Tired of sterile, hospital-like vet care? Dr. Renee is a breath of fresh air. Excellent diagnosis prior to med test confirmations for our dog. Very very caring and intelligent vet. Fit our emergency need in immediately -- other patients there are very understanding. Have had nothing but excellent experiences. Meds are expensive, but not sure it's any more there than elsewhere. I urge you to be very cautious with this woman. In my opinion, she is an incompetent veterinary who hides behinds smiles and a compassionate facade. Seems nice, yes. A good vet, no. If you want to be humored, go to Dr. Chrest. If you want your animal to be healthy, try someone else. Cons: deceiving....very deceiving more

When my cat smokey had come down with liver disease I was new in this city. My cousin recommended Dr. Chrest and on her recommendation I went. What I found were caring and honest staff members, a competitent and truthful vetinarian who wasn't afraid to tell me what she would do in the same circumstances but also gave me all the life saving possibilies. We finally decided to put 13 year old Smokey down. I held her in my lap sobbing and asked the Dr. to give the injection. She did and let me be with smokey a while. Later that week, I got a card and follow up call. I was strapped for cash and she was incredibly patient. She doesn't just treat the patient and customer the same as all but she has the wisdom to treat each case individually. Bravo Dr . Chrest!
