Great Hospital!!! Staff is EXCELLENT!! 6/8/2008

I have been taking my pets (dogs, cats, and birds) to this hospital since 1997. I have always been pleased with the service and care. They go out of their way to get my pets in at a moments notice if necessary. They will work with you on payments if you cannot pay the bill in full. It is just an all around great place to take your pets. more

Great care for out-of-towners 3/28/2008

While visiting Asheville in the winter of 2008, my Bernese Mountain Dog came down with a major skin problem -- itching, chewing holes in herself, etc. I didn't know where to go, but checked insiderpages.com -- the only criticism seemed to be that the vets weren't very friendly. I couldn't have been more pleased. Dr. Kidney came into the waiting room to greet us and to get acquainted with Daisy. She's normally aloof and guarded around men, but his calm manner seemed to put her at ease. The exam went well; he explained the treatment plan to me in detail and answered all my questions. About a week later I was pleasantly surprised to get a phone call from the doctor himself asking about her progress!\r \r We are fortunate to be moving permanently to Asheville later this year, and I will definitely continue taking my pets to Dr. Kidney. THANK YOU!!!\r \r Sharron Armel more

Nice Group of people 2/27/2006

On August 5, 2005 I found a kitten in Asheville while working there. I'm from Georgia. As I had a cat at home I need to have this kitten checked before I brought her all the way back to Metro Atlanta. I couldn't find any other clinic that had a Vet on hand. They took us in and treated us kindly. The vet was a little cold in personality but friendly enough. He took great care of my kitten, per my vet here in GA. Gave her what shots and tests he could for her tender age of 4 weeks and weight of 1 lb. We still have this kitten as she has brought a house full of laughter. I hope LESS people will abandon animals in your area at local car washes. This cat got luck as we didn't run over the paper bag she had been left in. I misplaced my receipt and needed information for my vet, I called the clinic and they provided willingly and cheerfully. I was very pleased with their office personal. PROS: Saw us immediately CONS: Personality a little no concerning but good enough more

Not A Place For Our Animal Children 11/29/2005

When I first moved to Asheville, Hospital East was the only place I trusted to take my son. The front desk and kennel staff were excellent and friendly, but the vets never seemed to warm to anyone. Over the last five years, my dog has steadily lost weight and the vet failed to find a fatal liver disease. When he did finally diagnose it, the first thing he said is "I would put him to sleep if he were mine." That was over a year ago and I immediately changed vets, thankful that my dog did NOT belong to him. Their best point is the front desk staff and the beautiful location of the office, a wooded, quiet area. more
