A+++++ I have been using Dr Sandy and Dr Susan at the Animal Health CLinic for over 8 years now. The entire staff is WONDERFUL!!!!! Always feel my pets and myself are treated with the utmost care, respect and sympathy during those hard times. They have given me options and thats more than most vets do. They always give 2 and 3 and 4 options for the situation so i can choose whats best for me and my pet. They never say ""This is what we are going to do"". I have met lots of other vets who do that. I believe options are better. Thats what I love about Animal Health Clinic. They are extended family!\r \r I used to work as a technician for a vet office in sterling heights. One of the things I was in charge of was supply ordering which included but was not limited to vaccines, medications, office supplies and more. Unfortunately, there is a HUGE misconception out there.\r \r Some vets have greedy tendencies but they go about it a different way. The government regulates the pharmaceutical companies which need their share, who regulates all the distribution centers who need their share who your vet gets their products from.\r \r So if you go into the vets office and receive a certain bill, realize that not only are they paying for other peoples mark ups, but they also have to pay their bills, and staff and cleaning and maintenance costs as well. \r \r There are PLENTY of vets out there that charge less, don't get me wrong. But those are the vets that will have higher turnover for clients, those will have increased chances of misdiagnosis or infections due to cutting corners and THOSE THINGS will lead to you spending MUCH more money in the long run than if you simply looked for QUALITY of what you are paying for and NOT the QUANTITY of cost. Cutting corners is the way most vets satisfy their greed. bigger problems = bigger returns = bigger future costs. \r \r I personally would rather pay a little extra up front for superb care and the GUARANTEE my pets will have the best treatment possible; a place where MY pet is THEIR PET because mine aren't just pets. My animals are FAMILY.\r \r And if you have the money to spend on that Prada or Coach purse, you BETTER not have the audacity to complain about how much your vet bill is. Animals, like children need LOVE, CARE AND EDUCATION....and it DOES NOT COME FREE. \r \r EVERYONE should think about what they are willing to afford to put into a pet before getting one! When it comes to animals, the cheapest part is the INITAL purchase. If you cant afford it, DONT GET IT! There are to many in shelters because of misguided, uneducated, instant gratification requiring people out there. \r \r Most vets will offer you options for certain things should the costs be to much. Discuss it with them. But if you are shutting the door on a wonderful place just for puppy vaccines or kitty vaccines being to costly....sounds to me like you should have made a different choice in owning that one...or more, pet in the first place. more

Shopping for a new vet I called Fenton 6/11/2012

Shopping for a new vet I called Fenton Vet clinic, the location and hours were perfect for me. Since cost is a definite factor I called in advance to get a run down on pricing for vaccinating my dog and 2 new kittens. \r \r All of their rates were higher then my current vet but the Saturday hours were a plus for me. I was told that to vaccinate each kitten it would be $132.00 each, I thought that was high, but I had no idea exactly how high. What I was not told on the phone was that kittens vaccinations require a series of 3 shots which would mean 3 visits and at this office they charge an office call per kitten per visit, I did not find that out until I got there for our appointment. \r \r To charge office call fees of $35.00 for each kitten for the second and third vaccination visits is ridiculous, since my visit I have called two other vets in our area and they also say it's ridiculous to do so, those vets both charge an office call for the first initial visit but not the second and third because it is just not right and quite frankly a rip off to do so, any office that does should not get your business.\r \r Long story short, within 10 minutes of arriving for our appointment an emergency came in which I do understand happens, I have sympathy for the pet parent of the injured animal. But, what this meant for me was, that an appointment that should have taken less than one hour ended up taking three. Even though the vet was busy with the emergency I should not have been left waiting. They did appologize but seriously three hours and all they can say is ""sorry"" and ""Thanks for being so patient"". What choice did I have it was some sort of hostage situation. Given my final bill, what I should have done was get up and leave after the first hour I could have saved myself a tremendous amount of time and money.\r \r My appointment for one dog rabies vaccine, heartworm test and meds and flea treatment for 3 months and two kittens first vaccines, and flea treatment ended up costing me $385.00. YIKES! Every vet I called said that was outrageous, especially the office call fee for returning vaccinations. Oh, and just for the record, to spay a kitten at this office I was told it would be $250.00. Can you say highway robbery? Call any other vet in town and get thier pricing, you will see what I mean. The highest price I found at the other vets I called was $147.00 and that included the 3rd series of vaccinations.\r \r My advice: If you have ridiculous sums of money to spend on your pets then this office may be perfect for you. But, for me since I have other bills to pay each month and do not have the luxury of money to waste, I will be going to one of the other vets that I called, I simply cannot afford this one.\r \r The techs, vet and staff are all very nice, the facility is nice, the location and hours are great but for me the cost is far too high. more

Great Ladies 5/5/2012

My dad (89 years old) has a yorkie that we have been taking to Dr. Sandy & Dr. Susan for about a year. My dad is a little grumpy & outspoken but the ladies there always treat him with respect (quite a feat). But beyond that & most importantly they are just amazing with his dog. They always explain all of the charges, often offering to get more that one estimate for my dad & are always willing to answer our many questions. Sometimes things seem to cost a lot but once explained we can understand the reasoning behind it, and really the final decision is ours. I know my dad appreciates the time they take with him to explain things in a way he understands. He says he'll never go anywhere else with his little Punkin. Thank you ladies for taking great care of us! more
