This place gets zero stars from me! 6/13/2011

I would not recommend this place to anyone! I had to take my 19 year old cat there who had been attacked by a dog and they were so rude and not compassionate about anything. They wanted to keep her there for several days until they could send her to a specialist. They required a $600 deposit upfront and the remaining balance before we could pick her up. They quoted me several different quotes that were very outrageous. After talking to the vet the next day, he was very rude. I decided with her age and the extent of her injuries to go ahead and put her to sleep. No sooner did her heart stop, he proceeded to open her mouth to show my boyfriend her injuries even after he said he did not want to see them. The vey then told him that she would of probably died within a week anyway. So, instead of telling me to just put her down, he was willing to do the surgery on my poor 19 year old cat even though he did not think she would really make it through it just to get my money. That is all they a more

Our Casey 1/19/2011

What a great place to take a pet in need! The Staff is the Best from the Front Desk to the back room . This is the 2nd time we have had to bring one of our Golden Retrievers there ! The 1st Time was in 2002 when we had to put our Maggie down at the age of 16 . The 2nd time was a week ago when we had to bring our Casey in who was a rescue Golden Retriever that we had from the time he was 6 months up til his sudden passing at just over 6 years old . The staff called us in when his breathingwasn't good! They thought it was Cardiac Arrest , which Golden Retriever are suseptible to. He took his last breath while we spoke to him and petted him ! He was in a coma by the time we were called in, so things happened real quick. They made us feel real good - The Lady Vet was compasionate, They gave us whatever time we needed to be with him ! He had flu like symptons on Monday- Seemed better on Tuesday ! He got sick again on Tuesday ! I called the clinic they said we should watch him. We were doi more

Bad Experience!! 6/9/2010

To Whom It May Concern,\r This morning, I had an extremely sick puppy this morning. A tiny Yorkie that was 11 weeks old. She was barely responsive when I went to let her outside this morning. I quickly gave her some Karo syrup, thinking she could be Hypoglycemic, that did not work, so I rushed her to the emergency clinic. I continued with the Karo syrup at every chance I could safely do it. I knew she was dehydrated and her body felt cold. I had her wrapped in a towel to keep her warm. Oh and she did have some diahrea upon finding her. When I got to the Emergency Clinic on Big Bend( did I mention that I live in Saint Clair, a very long drive away), I explained to them her condition and that I thought she needed fluids immediately. Instead they chose to test her blood sugar levels, which were fine partly due to the karo syrup I was force feeding her, and they placed her on a heating pad. Again I said she needed fluids as soon as I walked in the door. After waiting at least 30-40 minutes more

Animal Emergency Clinic is wonderful 11/12/2009

We had a cat that was very ill one weekend and when I took her in the vet was very nice and did explain everything I needed to know and also answered all my questions (some I asked twice). We took her home the following Monday but ended up back in the hospital the following Saturday. The Vet took her immediately from me to put her on oxygen and get started on finding out what was wrong with her. He called us early Sunday morning and told us that she had gone into cardiac arrest and would not survive much longer. Everyone at the hospital was VERY nice and patient with us while we went through this tough time. more

An amazing and caring animal hospital 10/19/2009

My little dog was very sick and needed emergency help NOW. From the moment I walked in the door with her, she and I were treated with the utmost respect, compassion and care. She was in heart failure and needed Oxygen. She was immediately taken from me to be treated and the vet spoke with me concerning her condition in frank but caring terms giving me her odds of survival. I was welcomed to call any time day or night to check on her or to visit. Every time I called, the vet on duty would be on the phone within minutes giving me an update on her condition. After 2 days it became clear that the hoped for outcome was not to be and it was time to put her out of her suffering. Even that was handled with the utmost respect and compassion for she and I. I can rest assured that she was given the best care possible by this highly trained professional team. I will agree with others, this clinic is expensive, but how do you put a price on good care for a loving and loyal member of you more

Animal Emergency Clinic is good but expensive 8/30/2009

My dog was mauled and required treatment in the middle of the night so we brought him here. It was good service, they took care of him, but the bill was pretty high. more

I still don't have my dog back 6/11/2009

My 5 YO lab has developed an extreme fear of thunderstorms. He only tries to run away when it has been storming. We have had ALOT of these lately. He figured out a way to stand on his hind legs and use his front paws to pull the door nob towards him to escape. (Only 250 words, I can't elaborate.) He has become an escape artist. I had started locking him in his kennel at night, but he bent the bars to escape, & broke a window to get out. 3x someone has found him and taken him to this Vet to read his chip. The 3rd time they called me at 9:30 at my work telling me I had to come right away or they would send him to the pound. I told her that I had a meeting, but could be there in an hour. She said it was too late and sent him to the County pound. I have left messages for 2 weeks at Animal Control and they won't return my calls. My 4 year old is constantly asking where his dog is. I fear they might have already put him to sleep. The last time he got out I saw that he climbed on the basement bar, slid open the window and pushed out the screen. Do they expect everyone to just leave their job and pick up their dog? I think an hour is a reasonable time period to ask. Now I don't know if we'll ever get our dog back. Cons: Lack of empathy more

Great Experience 2/20/2009

My sick kitty had been at my regular vet for two days, wasn't getting better and they could tell me nothing. I picked him up and brought him home to care for him myself. After a few hours I couldn't stand to watch his suffering. I took him to AECS and within a couple of hours AECS had done more than my regular vet had done in 2 days. We aren't in the home stretch yet but I am confident he is getting the best care possible. Yes, they are expensive but the body of knowledge and state of the art technology available at AECS isn't cheap. This is not my first experience with AECS. They have never let me down. Even when things didn't turn out the way I had hoped, I knew they had done their best and they too felt my loss. They are an amazing group of compassionate, knowledgeable, amazing professionals. more
