I like going to Animal City because it feels better than going to a big store (like PetsMart). The staff are helpful and seem knowledgeable, at least about fish. The shop also sells pet supplies which seem to be at good, comparable prices. more

Helpful staff 8/5/2005

The staff is usually helpful, if the store is busy it is hard to get helped sometimes. The store is usually clean, I have been in there a few times when it hasn't been and has had an odor. The staff is knowledgeable about the animals that they sell and can readily answer questions on animal care. It's a good store, they can order things for you if they don't have them.. more

Since conception in 1933, Animal City has been involved in the freshwater tropical fish trade. Animal City was originally known as Hartford Aquarium and was strictly a tropical fish store. Over the years the business evolved into a full line pet store providing a vast variety of domestic and exotic pets, products, and knowledge. Located in Vernon, Connecticut since 1984, Animal City provides everything from the traditional hamster or goldfish to something more exotic like a sugar glider or discus. The store offers an unparalleled selection of unique tropical freshwater fish and goldfish from all over the world, filling over 150 aquariums for your selection. Most animals are locally bred and raised, thus are not subject to various diseases commonly spread amongst commercial sources. Animal City strives to provide beyond exceptional customer service with a knowledgeable and friendly staff.
