Another name for the city's "pound," the Chicago Animal Care & Control houses a good number of stray and surrender cats and dogs (and occasionally rabbits) available for adoption. The animals appear to be decently cared for, but the constant barking of caged dogs (especially when you first walk into the dog area) give the feeling that these shelter animals aren't given much beyond the necessary kibbles and water. The facilities are rather cold and unfriendly, and the staff is relatively inaccessible.
