Angler Seafood House

After eating at The Angler, I felt compelled to go online and leave a review somewhere - it was THAT GOOD! And not only is their catfish amazing, the hidden jewel of Cullman is their steaks! If you want a perfect steak, go there instead of the All Steak or any of the other steakhouses in town.\r Before writing this review, I read some of the other reviews listed, and whoever the two people are who left the really ugly reviews back-to-back, are OBVIOUSLY disgruntled employees. They know too many details about pay and contracts and such. Any business owner has had to deal with them and knows what I'm talking about.\r Bottom line: the food and service was wonderful, and we went at a very busy time. The place was packed... and rightly so! more

The Angler is the place to be! Last week when my husband and I visited for the first time with our two kids we were absolutely blown away! We found the cornbread and coleslaw to die for, and our half order of fried dill pickles were melt in your mouth delicious. The catfish was THE BEST I have ever eaten, and my husband was amazed by his seafood platter. It would have fed our entire family, but he loved it so much he managed to eat it all. When our bubbly server with the big smile and the pigtails noticed how much my daughter loved the hush puppies, she brought us a whole basket! Although we all had more than enough food to feed a small army (everyone but my husband got a take-out box), I managed to find room for a bowl of homemade blackberry cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream. Don't you dare tell my mother I said this, but it put hers to shame. As if the wonderful food and the amazing service weren't enough, the entire building was beautiful, and my son was awe stricken by the fish more

So here was our experience this past weekend. There were 3 servers left to serve the entire restaurant because all of the others quit shortly before opening time. Why? Because the owner expected them run back and forth from their full sections of customers to the dish room to wash all of their own dishes throughout the night! WHY? Because as the owner said, they make a minimum wage of $2.15 per hour and are expected to do any and all duties she assigned including washing dishes while they neglected their customers. She even brought a contract for the servers to sign. Yes! I said a CONTRACT! What an absolute, inept owner. My guess is she wanted to save her lazy self $7.24 an hour to hire a dishwasher. With an average plate cost of $15, how is that an issue???\r \r Guess what, Tammy Black! Your customers see through your fake smile. I will continue to tell other customers to stay away. I hope others do too! more

The prices are ridiculous for the portions. The owner seems like she doesn't know what she's doing almost every time we visit. And the business has severely declined from what it used to be. I guess everyone else is figuring out what we have - it's not worth it. I mean $15 for a few small grilled shrimp and only one side item??? Used to be, the big draw was the cornbread and cole slaw. Now you are rationed food like it's the Great Depression. I mean you literally get served about 4 ounces for 4 people! Sure you can ask for more, but who wants to ask the server 8 different times to get you some more cole slaw? \r \r If in doubt - just stay away from this place! more

This is a really great seafood restaurant. You can find crab claws, shrimp, and many more. The prices are not too bad. The service is very good. You do need to get there early though because a crowd forms quickly. more

The Angler Seafood House is a wonderful place to get fresh seafood, homemade cornbread, and turnip greens. The restaurant is located next to beautiful Smith Lake and is close to both Interstate 65 and Smith Lake Park. Get there early; often the line forms shortly after opening at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. more
