Andre's At The Lake

While this beautiful restaurant is found in a perfect location, perched high atop a hill overlooking the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks, it?s here where we experienced the worst treatment we?ve ever received in any restaurant! Over Valentines dinner our two entrees, lobster and steak, were delivered to us cold, not warm, but cold. As soon as our waitress returned, about 10 minutes, we registered a complaint. After 30 minutes she returned again and informed us Chef Andre would do nothing but offer us a round of drinks. All we wanted was warm food. After another 15 minute wait, we were informed by our waitress and the hostess that they had no authority and when we asked to speak to the owner or someone who did we were never given the opportunity, they just let us sit there. When the hostess returned, after another 10 minute wait, she told us they would credit our bill for the steak, $38.95, but would do nothing for the cold lobster. Here?s the best part?when they presented us with the bill we were told we would have to pay the full bill, even though the staff had removed our plates, even though they had told us they would credit the cost of the steak. Great way to treat your customers! We paid the $140+ bill in full, we will never go back and we will tell everyone we can about our poor treatment Pros: Beautiful location. We went there Valentine's Day 2007 and the food was awesome, and that was the first time going to Andre's. Since the food and service were so good the first time we went, we descited to do go again. I ordered a simple blue cheese cheese burger and it was like a burnt hockey puck. It was small, black, and had no taste. So went back for this Valentine's Day 2008 for the seafood and primerib buffet giving Andre's a third chance, another dissappointment. However not on the service side, the service was wonderful. The food was over cooked again and unimaginative, very bland. I could have made the same stuff at home. Between two people with two buffets and ice teas, our bill was over $75.00. We will no longer be returning to Andre's nor will we recomend them to visitors. Pros: Good service and awesome view Cons: Bland and expensive food more
