***I am new to the area and was looking for a dentist in the neighborhood. I made some calls to see which dentist took my insurance plan. I ended up making an appointment at Andover Family Dentistry. It was close to where I live and the lady on the phone seemed helpful and nice. The 1st appointment which was a check-up and cleaning went well. I would have to return to have a cavity filled and they suggested taking out an old filling which was in the same area and refill it.\r
***When I returned for the second visit I was informed there was two fillings to do. They gave me novacane and asked if I wanted white or silver. I questioned the cost difference and they offered to call the insurance company to see what percentage was covered. The insurance would cover 80%, but I would have to pay the over allowable amount since what is billed will be higher than what the insurance company allows to be billed. I was told united healthcare is not a preferred provider. They did not know what that amount would be. I did not have a choice at this point, but to pick one. I chose silver only because I did not know what my bill was going to look like.\r
***I spoke to my wife and she researched this dentist again. They were on united healthcare's list as a prefered provider. The dentist still denied being part of this plan and signing a contract with them. A contract that was signed by him was faxed over.\r
***Kelly, which is Dr. Chutes ppo said she would ask him if he would redo my fillings in white. Dr. Chute declined. Dr. Chute told my wife they told me the insurance company would pay 80% which is true however they told me they were not a preferred provider and would have to pay higher out of pocket cost since they were billing over the insurance companys allowed amount.\r
***Now I have silver fillings when I had a chance to make them white again and still looking for a decent dentist. I believe if my wife did not work for united healthcare I would have been stuck overpaying.\r
