Ancient Arts Family Karate Academy provides my 13 year-old son a positive venue in which he overcomes challenges by developing self-control and discipline. The instructor, Shihan Don Isaak, shares his knowledge and many years of experience in authentic traditional Karate and Ju-Jitsu with a wide variety of ages and skill levels. In addition to noticeable increased self-confidence, my son thinks, eats, and lives healthier. His performance at school is excellent. His sense of responsibility with household chores has improved. His overall sense of responsibility and positive attitude increase on a weekly basis since he started attending the Academy. The investment in my son's martial arts education and development at the Ancient Arts Academy is clearly on of the best choices I made as a father. The strong sense of accomplishment my son demonstrates when earns a new belt through hard-work confirms this fact. It is a ""Win-Win"" for our whole family. more

I paid a one-time fee of thousands and felt cheated by the owner and the coach. Because after several months, he is not paying attention to all the kids who paid the one-time fee and he is more interested in the newcomers and students paying monthly fees. I do not think the owner is not an honest man because the way he behaves. For the first few months, my son had very positive experience but then it changed and my son started to hate to go to that place. We moved out of the area last year but till today when I mentioned this place to my son, he remembered this coach as a businessman, not a martial artist. That is how bad it is. Definitely not the role model I expected. more

The best Martial Art school in the Triangle 4/21/2012

I have been a student of Shihan Isaak since 2010, additionally both my children are students as well. Shihan goes to great lengths to teach a quality martial arts program. I have looked at every school in the area and have not found any program that compares to the Ancient Arts Family Karate. From my first meeting with Shihan Isaak he was very straight forward with me as to what he expects from me as a student as well as my financial obligation. In return my family has received a top notch martial art education, I myself have lost 20 lbs and my doctor no longer believes that I need BP and cholesterol medication. That alone was worth the money I paid. My wife and I have a partner in Shihan as he reinforces the lessons we teach our children everyday. My son is a special needs child and I am extremely pleased with his overall improvement during the past 2 years. If you are serious about learning martial arts then this is your school, if you want your ego stroked go to the Tae Kwan Do school down the road. It is only through your hard work that you will get the education you desire. Joining this school was one of the best decision I have made. more

A note from the Owner.... 4/18/2012

I am the owner and instructor, Donald Isaak. I do teach all of my classes. If anyone ever needed extra attention, I'm always available. I have very short term programs and insist my students try these first before making long term commitments. I want to keep my people. I make every effort to contact my students if I do not see them for 2 weeks. Everyone good instructor knows it is easier to keep your students then to find new ones. My retention is one of the highest in the nation and my re- enrollment rate is high too! There is a reason my classes are popular. I teach a quality program. I don't advertise, only word of mouth. I have increased the amount of classes to reduce the size. In terms of prices, my program and fee's are lower than most. One thing about the attitude, there is a Junior/Senior relationship. I teach a very strong program and have been teaching and training for over 40 years. Parents hire me to teach their children and I know how to do it. Who is the Teacher, who is the Student? If a student is not living up to his/her true potential, or goofing off in class, it is my job to correct them in an appropriate manner. I have over 40 years experience of doing that. I realize I can not make everyone happy but I try my darndest! ""Karate is not to win a trophy or a prize but to develop the character and personality of the participant!"" Gichin Funakoshi more

The quality of coaching is down! 4/4/2012

It was good initially, but the group size has expanded - especially among the kids - without a concomitant increase in the facility size or coaching. The coaching/student ratio has greatly changed in a negative way. Actually, there is only one coach who is the owner. Sometimes the coaches attitude to the kids is rude. Members energy has decreased especially over the last couple of months. This could be due to class size and cycling through several different groups/night. more

Simply the Best! 10/6/2011

Our family loves this dojo. Shihan Isaak is ""old school"" and teaches not only the techniques needed for martial arts, but the philosophy and discipline behind it. Anyone can be taught how to fight or defend themselves, but in this school you are given so much more. Our children are 13 (girl) and 10 (boy) and we work hard to impart on them the lessons of life we have learned along with our values and work ethic. Now we have a partner in Shihan Isaak who teaches the same things in a fast paced fun way, the kids don more

What a treat to find a great Martial Art school.... 7/17/2011

We just moved here from California where there are martial art schools by the dozens. We were very depressed when we had to move and hated to leave our old school. We looked at other schools in this area and were very disapointed about the atmosphere and it seemed all about the money. We found Mr. Isaak's school, Ancient Arts and were impressed with the way he ran his dojo and class. He is very impressive to watch working with the children and adults. His knowledge is more than we were used to and my children have grown so much here. He always acts in a proffessional manner and leads the school by example. Mr. Isaak goes out of his way to make the new students feel very comfortable and welcomed. I would highly reccomend Shihan's school to anyone wanting to better themselves and train with authentic martial arts. We are incredibly happy and I'm tempted to take my old bottom out on the mat and try it myself. It looks like so much fun. more

Triangles Best Martial Arts Dojo 9/10/2010

This Dojo is simply the best around! The instructor Shihan Don Isaac is in the Karate Hall of Fame and has incredible martilal arts knowledge. He is also amazing at working with and teaching kids. My two children ages 6 and 8 have been working out with Don Isaac for 5 months and simply love the classes. Every class they attend they learn Karate, get a good work out, and have fun. Even more importantly they are taught family values, discipline, respect, and self-control. I feel very fortunate that I found and chose this Dojo for my children. Don Isaac teaches every class himself and explains all of his fees upfront (there are no hidden charges). Also, he does not run a ""belt factory"". Belts are earned by hard work and system knowledge not by simply writing a check or paying for one. Anceint Arts Family Karate is very reasonably priced and a great value. Matt more

A great place for developing the mind, body and spirit. 4/20/2010

I found Ancient Arts Family Karate to be a great place for delveloping the mind, body and spirit. As having an interest in the martial arts for years and jumping from one style to another, Aikido, Uechi-Ryu, Ju Jitsu and judo, I have found them all to be useful for their intended purposes. But, none have been all encompassing as the style that Shihan Don Isaak teaches. The Shuri-Ryu system, the way Shihan teaches it, has flowing movements, throws that work for self defense and the dynamic power of Uechi-Ryu.It's a beautiful system that has been designed and handed down over the centuries for weaponless defense, a true martial art that will work in the streets.
