Best Ice Cream in Houston 1/16/2009

Hands down, this is the best ice cream in Houston. Too bad there is only one location, but a lot of restaurants serve their ice cream with dessert (Barnaby's Cafe, Mission Burrito, Star Pizza, etc). Mexican Vanilla is an all-time favorite, but it is always fun to try the other flavors. MY favorite funky flavor - Avocado! Pros: Taste, price, choices Cons: Only one location more

Better than the others. 9/20/2007

Amy's Ice Cream is impressively good. I'd give them 5 stars, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've gone there and waited less than 15 minutes in line. Even on slower nights, the wait is ridiculous. They have 2 people on the line, and usually they're working the register, too, which takes even more time. The treats are unbeatable, but the staffing is poorly thought out. I do, however, wish they'd have my favourite flavour more often. The hibiscus flower is incredible, and the Guinness ice cream is a close second. Following closely behind are their Shiner ice cream and whiskey ice cream. Despite how much I HATE waiting, I continue to go there instead of any of their rivals...plus it's just across the street from the always delicious 59 Diner. Pros: Ice cream flavours, plenty of parking. Cons: Service/lines. more

Best Icecream EVER! 4/5/2007

I was introduced to the ORIGINIAL Amy's during college and have gone to the Memorial location several times ... this location falls between the two. It still have the creativity and flair of the original but without the intangibles of the Austin location. But the ice cream is still on point & that's the most important part! Amy's has seasonal flavors to try & most taste like the name. My all time favorie is Mexican Vanilla w/ peanut M&Ms. Try it & you'll be a believer. Pros: Ice Cream Cons: Parking more

It's the coolest, man... 2/13/2006

I've been going to Amy's for about 10 years now and I can say, withouth reservation, that it is the best ice cream in Houston. They have some standard flavors (Mexican Vanilla, White Chocolate, Sweet Cream, etc.) but they have 4 or 5 flavors that change every week, so theres always something new to try. The servers are creative and fun, though perhaps a bit startling to those unused to the Montrose/Shepherd styles. I definitely reccomend it to everyone, but it's particularly fun for kids and casual dates. And you can always go to Star Pizza (directly across Shepeherd) first and finish up with Amy's after. Pros: AMAZING ice cream, fun servers, PARKING! Cons: sticky tables more

Go Amy's! 11/21/2002

Amy's Ice cream is the best ice cream place: they have basic and different flavors, that's what make them original because you don't know what new flavors they have until you get there. I actually tried Amy's in Austin , and I later found out there were in Houston. Now, if you want to eat ice cream, it is THE place to go. Pros: originality, delicious ice cream Cons: place more

JBetter than marble slab 11/9/2002

Amy's is much better than marble slab. No matter where I go Austin or here the icecream & people are the same. Pros: excellent Cons: not enough locations more

Just go. 10/16/2002

The BEST ice cream I've had, Ever! The place is just odd. The employees are fun to watch as they prepare your ice cream and helpful. a few of the flavors left me a little puzzled. if you don't go, at least once, buy yourself a big ""L"" for your forehed 'cause you're missing out on a great ice cream experience. Everything I've tried there has knocked my socks off! oh yeah, the napkins are free. Pros: Quirky, Fun, Delicious Cons: not pristine, gets crowded, across town more
