Uneducated instructors 9/14/2011

The only con about this studio is that there are few, if any, educated teachers. Dancing in high school or on a college dance team does not qualify you to teach children. Amy herself doesn't even have a degree. The worst part about this is that Amy Peel doesn't even teach or run her own studio anymore. Amber Martin has taken this studio over and she, again, doesn't have a degree in dance. I feel it is important to educate yourself in college for what you are teaching because there is so much more to learn outside of the ""studio"" setting. If nothing else, at least have a professional career. Nurses and Photographers are not QUALIFIED DANCE TEACHERS. Amber has no outside education, except for what she learned from Amy. It's a massive circle of uneducated teachers. There are plenty of teachers out there who have taken PRIDE in their career choice and have degrees in Dance Education or Dance Performance. I would recommend looking up those teachers before taking your children to learn from these uneducated teachers. more

Great place to dance 6/12/2009

This is quite inappropriate. I have been involved with this studio for a long time and I have had nothing but good experiences with it. I think that Amy is a great instructor. I think that she definitely spends time with children and helps to build them up to their own potential, whatever that might be. Many gifted young adults have come from this place and have become wonderful dancers. I would recommend it. I feel that it is unfortunate when people need to publically bash others to make themselves feel better. It would be way too easy to chalk your dislike up to the fact that this place may not have been a good fit for you, and leave it at that. i feel sorry that you happened to have a bad experience and wish you all of thebest in the future. I dont think that anything that happens there anymore is your business, like you mentioned earlier, you are happy where you are. Why can you not leave it at that? Pros: Great place to grow up more

Best Dance Studio in the state of Iowa 12/3/2008

You honestly have nothing better to do than write slander about Amy Peel like some immature high schooler. You go from site to site posting the same thing. Just because you had one bad experience doesn't mean the dance studio itself is terrible. \r \r I danced at Amy Peel Dance Avenue for over 14 years. Amy has trained many professional dancers in the short 16 years that the studio has been open. Her students have become successful in LA, Las Vegas and around the midwest. I have watched Amy take her dream of becoming a dance instructor and turn her dream into a reality by becoming a national award winning dance studio. I strongly suggest this studio. Amy cares about each and every one of her students, and hires top notch choreographers and staff. She creates a strong bond within her studio, and those that know her best agree that she is one of the most caring, compassionate and down-to-earth people you will ever meet. Students travel from all across the state just to take classes from her. I personally used to travel 40 minutes each day to take everything from tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, acro, and hip hop. \r \r So please stop slandering Amy and her studio. She means the best and does the best she can. Pros: Award winning studio, great classes, great atmosphere, great place to learn!! more

Terrible Studio, Terrible Owner/Instructor and down right disrespectful dancers! 11/26/2008

This dance studio is not worthy enough of a rating. The dance instruction is poor, she is NOT College backed. She was hardly ever there to teach dance, and the students teachers should NOT be teaching. She does not pose as a good teacher looking anorexia. The atmosphere is poor with all the dirt dishing in the studio waiting room about her and work employees. Amy pays more attention to her dance team than her regular students, as the dance team members are very rude and acting goody goody to everyone. I am glad we left at the beginning of the year this year, cause for the past few years I have watched poor excuses be made, and watched past students arrive at the studio and she took her time to talk to them, than the students in the class room. They believe that when they arrive the dancing stops for them, as they believe they are the best dancers Amy has ever had. Last year at recital she let two of the past dancers dance, which I felt took away from the dancers of that year, and the seniors of 2008. My child begged me to remove her. And now we are at a much better place. Also don't trust the employees in the office. They are non worthy. Don't trust talking to anyone in that studio as they all are backstabbing people. And if you are on team you are NOTHING. But then I would not want my child to be on team there, and grow up like the nameless team members I have seen the past three years, and the way they act, and treat others as they are below them. Amy get a clue... I watched alot of people leave.. Fix the problem or shut down. Cons: Everything.. more
