guys' haircuts 12/20/2007

Amy will cut it exactly the way you want it, and she's nice as hell. Its more than i like to spend but you get a neck rub and your hair washed with the cut. If you've ever had a bad haircut, go here and it won't happen again. Pros: They're cool Cons: women's salon more

Kudos, Applause, Huzzahs (and other high praise) for the Queen of Style! 9/6/2007

I don't want to be nasty, but I have to think that miss Violetlily is in need of mood stabilizing medication (on a downturn when she wrote her review!). This Salon, it's sylistic diva, and all it has to offer is 100% fabulous. I have never ever had a bad cut, bad service, or even a bad cup of coffee there! The barber's chairs are tres chic, the location couldn't be better, and to top it off, while Amy cuts my hair I have a wonderul view of her colleague Adam. It's a trifecta! ;) Pros: Amy, Adam, Amy, Adam, Amy, Adam, Amy... Cons: None. Love it, love it, love it. more

Wonderful Haircut, Nice Ambiance, Gotta Love It!!! 9/6/2007

I used to go to a salon in North Austin that was well known for catering to its clients' whims...what it ended up being was unbearably stuffy. I wanted to find a salon and stylist who could make me feel relaxed and who had the skills to transform a tired looking me into something fabulous. Cue the trumpet...4001 Duval is a beautiful, fun, and funky little place. You've probably driven past it a million times and never noticed it. I loved my first cut with Amy and have been going back to her ever since...she has great instincts and style. So far, I have done a radical cut, color, an updo or two, and some waxing (shhhh, don't tell anyone I wax!) and I have never been disappointed with the results. I am torn because I can't rate the place or the stylist highly enough, but at the same time - I really don't want ya'll to find my secret place! Alas, I wont be selfish - I know Amy has many mouths to feed. Enjoy! Pros: Location, Ambience, Art on the walls, Relaxed feeling, Great Sylist! more

Finally, a woman who cuts a man's hair better than your local barber! 9/6/2007

I have to say, I have long been a patron of local barber shops...there is something to be said for the timelessness of engaging in male bonding and watching sports while having your hair buzzed. HOWEVER, if you want an acutal cut, style, or *gasp* color - this is the place to go. The salon is cool and relaxing and Amy is skilled, friendly, and hysterically funny (not bad ont he eyes, either!). This may become another of my favorite Austin finds. The haircut I got was fantastic. I highly recommend Amy and the Salon. Pros: Amy, Amy, Amy, and I am guessing the other staff too! more

Cool, funky, eclectic, and hip!..Oh, and a fabu cut! 9/5/2007

I checked out 4001 Salon because it is down the road from the Hyde Park Bar and Grill and after some good food I decided I would like a good cut and color! I randomly went to Amy and am soooooooo happy that I did! She is awesome! I have NO idea what that other person was talking about when they said they didn't like their cut because mine was one of the best I have ever gotten. On top of that, the Salon itself is beautiful and relaxed and Amy is extremely easy to get along with. I am going back and plan to tell all of my friends so...if you want an appointment with Amy, 'better hurry now before she's constantly booked! Pros: Love the atmosphere and the location Cons: If you're looking for a notty stuck up salon where the staff address you as ""Ma'am"", this isn't it. more

worst haircut EVER 8/31/2007

After reading all the good reviews about Amy I decided I would make an appointment there. I moved to Austin a couple years ago and still have not found a great hais stylist. And now I can say that I still havent. While the salon is cute and the massage I got was nice... the haircut was aweful. Nothing like I wanted.... I went there in order to get a not so great hair cut fixed. Well, it is worse now!!! I wasnt happy with it at first and I thought I would give it a few days before writing this review. Its been almost a week now and I still HATE it. So, my advice... keep looking for a different hair stylist! Pros: cute salon Cons: bad haircut more

Love Her! 5/12/2007

I went to see Amy today as she was reccomended by a friend. Not only did she do a great job with my highlights and haircut but she was so much fun to spend time with. The salon is so charming with great old barbers chairs and a tin ceiling. I decided to have my eyebrows waxed too and Amy was great, we ended up laughing and giggling like we have known each other forever. I agree with the other client about the massage...a perfect way to start! I am actually looking forward to having roots so I can go back again. more

Great hairstylist! 4/14/2007

My cousin recommended that I go to Amy Evers because she loved her hair after visiting her, so I thought I would try her too! She gave me exactly the cut I wanted and I was very pleased when I left, something that doesn't happen very often. I've gotten an updo from Amy twice now and have loved both of them. She is very friendly and easy to talk to and very good at what she does. The salon is quaint and clean, and it's an Aveda concept salon so your hair smells wonderful and you get a scalp massage before your haircut :) You can't beat that! more

Not as great as other say 1/16/2007

I was looking forward to my appointment with Amy after reading all her great reviews...despite the fact that I had a fantastic hair cut from another stylist at the 4001 Salon 9 months earlier (but forgot his name and thought I'd try Amy.) I am very disappointed with my hair cut and felt like she blindly cut it without much thought or consideration. Had I not left town for a couple of weeks the day after my cut I would have marched back in and asked her to make some changes. Instead I had to opt to pay someone else, who said it looked like Amy was a student, or not very experienced. It's a great little salon and I'd go back to the man, whose name I can't recall, but I will not spend another $50 dollars to give Amy a second chance. Pros: Nice small salon. Pleasant, calm atmosphere and staff. Cons: Amy's poor skills more

Go Here For A Good Cut...Highly Recommended 6/29/2006

I found out about Hyridge from a friend of mine and was told to request Amy. She gave me a gorgeous haircut and was a good conversationalist as well. I brought my kids with me and no one seemed annoyed by the fact that there were little ones afoot. The place has a relaxed feel to it and the pricing is more than fair. I would highly recommend Amy and this salon to anyone. Pros: Wonderful haircut, good prices, flexible hours. No pressure to buy "product"!!! Cons: None. more

Amazing Haircut! 6/28/2006

WoW! I just went to Amy for the first time and I am hugely impressed. I had no idea what I wanted going in and I walked out looking 10x better than I expected. Very stylish, current, and chic. Amy is easy to get along with and does great work. I would definitely recommend her for your next cut. Pros: Very current. Great skills. Relaxed feel to the place. Cons: Um...I liked it. I'm pretty picky (actually a little OCD I've been told) and I have never had a complaint regarding Amy's haircuts. Not only is she a good stylist, but she's an intelligent woman. Hyridge is a nice relaxed place where is is easy to feel comfortable. I definitely highly recommend both the salon and the sylist. Pros: Very Relaxed. Flexible Hours. Nobody Else Can TOUCH my locks!!! 6/28/2006

Go to this cute little Salon and ask for Amy. She is AMAZING. I refuse to let anyone else cut my hair (although I'm sure they are all good there). Amy always seems to know what will work best with my face, current weight, job, current mood, etc. I love to go to her for updos as well...she can do some really funky stuff. Oh, did I mention that it is nice to have an intelligent hairdresser who is capable of decent conversation! Tell her you heard about her from Heather S Pros: Love it, Love it, Love it! Hola! Amy is the best. There is no doubt about that. I have some crazy thick hair and she always make me look amazing. She cut my daughter's hair too and she has all kinds of ringlets. I like best that she is so easy to talk to (if you want to - otherwise she's quiet). Also, I know from talking to her that she's a single working mom so she really appreciates your business and lets you know. Tip those single mom's well! Pros: Amy is really good at her job and nice to talk to. Cons: That she doesn't have her own salon (YET!) more

My Cut Looks Fabulous! 6/28/2006

Amy is a true artist!...It's not easy to take my hair and make it into something beautiful, but she did it! I spend a lot of time in the sun and water and she was able to give me a cut that is wash and wear and still looks amazing. HIGHLY recommended!!! Pros: Nice staff, flexible appointment hours, highly skilled staff Cons: No the most gorgeous location, but very user friendly. more
