Reputable 12/27/2009

Have been a previous customer. Great cheesecakes but very expensive. Paid $55. for a 10" strawberry cheesecake. Planned to impress my christmas dinner guests. The strawberries were very sour. No one could eat them. I called the Amphora owner to complain and told her that the cheesecake was inedible and I would like a refund and would bring the cake back. She said she couldn't/wouldn't refund the money but would give me a gift certificate. Returned the cake and was offered a $10 gift certificate. If you don't mind doing business with someone who won't stand behind their products, this is the place for you. Didn't take the insulting gift certificate. more

Never really happy here.... 8/2/2006

I always go to this bakery because it is a nice place to go for a treat. This will change. I have never really had anything that I LOVE here. I have had a mini cheesecake that has had mold on the raspberries. I have gotten bread and it is stale and overly dry. It just doesn't seem like they have a high turn over rate so nothing is really, really fresh. Don't ask too much about wedding cakes because the employees don't know. The wedding cakes are made from the Herndon location and they don't have samples. They have a dated picture book that is worth browsing through. more

This well-known bakery has all kinds of great desserts. This bakery is part of a larger restaurant which is about a minute walking distance from the bakery. They have all kinds of sweets, not just cakes and its great for all kinds of occassions, or even just to stop in and grab a cookie or two on your way somewhere. Their pastry section is full of many different cookies, petite-fours, cream puffs and other such things. The people there are very kind and will help you find whatever you need. They also have great prices. more

Excellent Wedding cakes 12/28/2005

Amphora's bakery is attached to their restaurant - we went there to try out their cakes for our wedding. They are VERY generous with their tasting portions and had samples of many of their flavors for us to try. The cakes are fantastic and very rich, they have a wide variety of flavors including some unique and tasty ones. Their prices are very reasonable for wedding cakes, and they do require you make an appointment with them ahead of time. more
