Best

I love Amnesia, never had a bad experience & I send friends there whenever they are in the neighborhood. As for the kids verses dogs issue.. Most dog are better behaved then kids ...

Worst

Well, I really want to enjoy this place, since I live nearby, and I'm glad it is not 'kid friendly', but it needs to be at least 'customer friendly' . \r \r The bartender is sl...

My new favoite for local brews 4/22/2008

Wow, it looks like there are still brewpubs in Portland that aren't owned by Budweiser! And even more spectacular is the tastiness of the brews!!! I fell in love with this place when I shared a pitcher of a pale ale with buddies at Fire on the Mountain. I then sought them out and went to their warehouse/bar. I wish they had a better food menu, but I am willing to bet they are only suppling food because they are obligated to under law. Its is unfortunate more bars in town don't have any of their brews on tap. The only ones I know of are Fire on the Mountain and Horsebrass. Pros: Great Beer Cons: Menu more

Worst Service of Portland Breweries 4/12/2008

I've been to Amnesia a few times. Weekdays are ok at Amnesia, but on my last visit a on Saturday afternoon, my entire experience was lousy. Yeah, the beer's good, and yeah, these a good selection of beer, but what good is that when the service is so lousy?\r \r After waiting in line 5 minutes (there is service only at the bar and when I went, there were only two servers), a male bartender took my order. But then someone came up to close out, and instead of getting the drinks I ordered, he helped the other customer. Right after the bartender took my order, a second bartender asked if I needed help. I said no, but after it was obvious that the first bartender wasn't returning with drinks any time soon, I asked the second bartender if he could get my drinks after all. I got attitude back. ""That's why I asked.""\r \r We ordered two sausages and watched as everyone who walked in after us got food. After waiting in line another 5 minutes to check on the food order, found out the order screwed up. When the sausages showed up, they were not as ordered and were burned.\r \r Had to wait 10 minutes in line if I wanted another beer. What good is good beer if it takes so long to get it?\r \r Also seemed like the coolest cats got better service. Guess I need to get a tattoo, a vintage tee, and to stop washing my hair.\r \r Bottom line: Food's lousy. Service is awful. Amnesia either needs to drop the food menu or hire more help. With dozens of full service breweries in Portland, I won't be going back to Amnesia. Pros: Good Beer Cons: Extremely long delay to get beer and incredibly poor service more

Great Beer 11/24/2007

The people at Amnesia serve some very interesting beers in a building that appears to be a converted garage of some sort. While I didn't try the food nor did I even get a close look at it I can say that their beers are great and the service, while very relaxed, was also very good. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be willing to try them again the next time I am in Portland. Pros: Great Beer, Great Prices Cons: Most of the seating is outdoors more

One of the best Bitters I have ever had! 8/28/2007

Amnesia is great. Relaxing, outside seating is a great way to spend a warm summer day. Beer is just top notch. As mentioned the Bitter here is really outstanding. Love the ?pints? of peanuts and Cheese Its. Menu is not too deep but for a basic grilled (and I do mean a real outdoor barbecue) burger or sausage you can?t go wrong. Best of all bring your 4 legged friend and leave the kids at home! Pros: Great Beer and a decent Grilled burger. Dogs and no kids. Cons: Sparce menu. more

Service Stinks 5/27/2007

Well, I wish I could recommend Amnesia, but I can't. We went to Amnesia yesterday afternoon. There was nobody sitting at the bar, so we sat there, and sat, and sat, and sat, and sat. No employees behind the bar acknowledged us or even looked at us. Customers who were sitting outside walked up to the bar, ordered their beers at the bar and were promptly served. I'd say about 10 people came to the bar and ordered and were served in the time we were sitting at the bar (about 10 minutes). The staff of three behind the bar managed to have time to tell jokes to each other, but never even looked at us. It got to be a joke, so we just got up and left. Review: The service stinks!! more

good spot 4/16/2007

The beer at Amnesia is amazing. Food is funny- the bartender cooks it on the grill outside. There's 6 things (I think) on the menu. Half are veggie (burger, tofu dog). Service has been very average every time I go there. Not to say it's bad, but I've never had anyone carry on a conversation with me, even though I've been the only guy in the bar. Patio is great. If they had a bartender or two with a personality, I'd be in the place all the time. Pros: great micros, amazing patio, good food (although limited menu) more

Not the nicest servers 4/5/2007

The beer was okay and the food looked good didnt eat. But the servers and brewer were real jerks, not very friendly even though they were hella slow. more

best beer on p-town 9/19/2006

At 8.5 this joint is very underrated. Food is limited but what is there is very good. Best microbrew around (especially the IPA) and good BBQ burgers and sausages as well. Summer is the best time to go because of the outdoor seating. Pros: Great beer, BBQ, outdoor seating Cons: long wait for food when busy more

Great Outdoor Seating 9/7/2005

The perfect neighborhood brewery for a summer's day. Bring your best buddies - animal, mineral, vegetable. Live music, tasty sausages, nice people. more
