I chose APC in Marysville because they specialized in what I was looking for, and were also local. I had an existing deck covering that was leaking, and wanted to replace the plastic panels with new ones.
I spoke to Tom and reviewed my issue, and he described the products they offered. He had a ""hard sell"" method that was annoying, so I decided to ask specific questions about his products and cut the conversation short. I was very interested in his products but I found him difficult to direct him away from his ""script"" to helping me solve my issue.
I armed myself with some photos of my patio roof frame hoping it would help clarify my need and returned a couple days later. I met another sales person there and I began to describe what I was looking to accomplish.
He seemed genuinely uninterested in my need and launched into a similar hard sell sales pitch about his product. I am not someone who enjoys sitting through this type of sales talk, so I continued to redirect him to answer my questions regarding my need. Each time I did so, he became increasingly and visibly agitated, telling me ""I?ve been doing this for 30 years!"" and ""I have been answering your questions!"".
After just a few minutes of his continued sales pitch that had little bearing on the solution I was seeking, he suddenly told me to ""take your things and just leave"". It was a rather surreal moment, but it suited me just fine because this was clearly not a company I could work with. He also belittled me as I was leaving, which I found amusing at that point.
I ended up contacting an out-of-sate vendor I found on the web dealing in the same material. They listened to my needs and answered my questions with courtesy. I will be ordering $4000 worth of material from them as soon as I finish preparing my roof frame.
My visit to APC was very disappointing to say the least. I would not recommend using APC for your patio roof needs, especially since there are many other vendor options available to fill this need that are willing to listen.
