it is hard to describe the nightmare i had with American boat center over what should have been a simple repair.. My 2006 Four Winns needed a repair and i thought i could trust them. They kept my boat for 6 weeks while they put different parts on it guessing on the repairs. i dealt with the service manager. He told me after his technician was struggling he called the Four Winns tech hotline and they instantly suggested a minor repair. He expected me to pay for all of the unneccesary labor and parts his mechanic installed while guessing at the problem. When i objected on the phone he quickly told me i could leave the boat with him and he would put a mechanic's lien on it and he would keep my boat. The disputed repairs were less than 10% of the value of the boat.
i couldn't believe the attitude he gave me on the phone so i waited until the next day to go and try to reason with him and pick up my boat. i professionally tried to discuss with him i should not be fully responsible for his employees inability to repair my boat. the repair on my boat should have been inexpensive. i do not believe i should have to pay for unnecessary repairs. when i asked him to remove the unneeded parts he told me he would have to charge me additional labor and a restocking fee.
i still cannot believe a business would treat anyone that poorly. i will never ever step foot on his property again. i share my story with other boat owner's at the marina and many have heard similar stories.
