We moved into Base Housing in Capehart in 2002. When I came home from deployment in 2005, I noticed the wall in our kitchen looked bowed in and had my husband call the maintenance department. The maintenance personnel who arrived stated that our dog did it, except our dog was locked in his kennel except when we are home and does not have the weight to break dry wall. I again kept calling when the ownership changed hands and finally got a supervisor to come look at the wall. He asked me for a knife and cut a hole in the wall and reached up and pulled his hand out to find it had mold on it. He stated a dog couldn't do that and there must have been a water leak at one point. They came out and tore out the wall that was rotted. When that was done and bio environmental inspected to make sure the mold/mildew was gone, the maintenance department never came back and put the wall together. That all happened in Sept 05. When we had our final out in Sept 06, the wall was still not fixed and they did not feel they needed to perform the maintenance. It caused health problems and still they did not take any responsibility. They would not allow us to final out within the month of August and caused us to pay another month's rent because their schedule could not accommodate us even when we followed their handbook and gave them not 30 but 45 days notice prior to us starting to move out. I would not recommend moving here until the maintenance work improves and they actually start folluwing their own procedures.
Pros: Maintenance is free for normal wear and tear, remodeling all housing to bring it modern instead of from the 60s
Cons: maintenance was not done in a reasonable timeframe
