I went to Maria out of complete desperation because I needed a wedding dress fast after one I had planned on didn't work out. I found her by doing an internet search, called her, and we met that afternoon. In 10 days she designed, made, tailored, and added detailing to a beautiful dress perfectly suited to my wedding and also made the veil. People who were at the wedding or who have seen pictures go on and on about how beautiful the dress is, and a tailor who my husband went to for his suit told him after seeing the pictures that it was a dress made by someone who understood the dying art of custom dress making and that it was exquisite. I have gone to so many tailors in NY and by far, Maria is the best of the best. You will be amazed at her skill and knowledge, and for me, as a woman, at the way she puts you at ease. I was looking for someone who was as good as my Sicilian Grandmother, who was a world class dressmaker, and I was blessed to find Maria. She is a great tailor and a brilliant dressmaker. You will not be disappointed from the minute you meet her in her old fashioned, charming work studio, and you will hug her after you see the magic she performs. You should cal her before you go the first time, and don't be surprised by the apartment building type of set up (it is not a typical storefront setting). Maria Ambosini made the perfect wedding dress for me. She designed it, did a superb job as a seamstress, and fit it perfectly. She is very maternal and suggested the right shoes and jewelry too. I loved my dress, but I loved Maria even more. more

Maria's handiwork has saved me money and time on many occasions. I can purchase something on sale and get it hemmed or taken in so that it fits like a glove and in the end I end up saving money. Maria saved me from a wedding dress nightmare. With less than a week to go, the dress was too tight. Letting out the seams didn't work - not enough fabric. Working under tremendous time pressure, Maria made a subtle design alteration that gave me the room I needed. It was not an easy alteration - the entire bodice needed to be reconstructed - but Maria's work was of such high quality that it looked as though no changes had ever been made to the original design.
