Amalia Mexican Grill

Had dinner here last night. Rude waitress and even ruder owner/manager. Was charged for special margaritas and ordered regular ones. Used restaurant discount site coupon. When we complained to the waitress that we were overcharged she sent the owner/manager over. She told us that she already accepted the coupon and had stopped taking them in Jan. even though they don't expire for a year, so therefore she wouldn't change the charge for our margaritas. One had nothing to do with the other!! To top it off the waitress got a great tip for being rude because I used a coupon. The food was okay. The sauces were not great at all. The tortillas looked and tasted funny. Too many good mexican restaurants out there to be treated like this!! more

We tried this place when it first opened. The tortillas were uncooked with globs of lard in them. The taco shells were just pre-fab. Pretty much ho-hum & not worth the price. So, we hadn't been back in years! But, a friend gifted us with a GC. It was one of the places to choose from so we wanted to give it another chance. As we were seated by the unfriendly waitress, she snapped up the coupon & said they no longer accepted the resturant.(dot) com GC as of January 2011. ( we just got it 3 days before & it was valid for a year). We were tempted to just leave but the kids were hungry so we stayed. The wait waas long, even though there were only 3-4 tables seated. more

Worst restaurant i have been to in Houston. The service was terrible with the manager being the rudest of them all. Had 1 shrimp added to the fajitas and was charged $6 for it. Shrimp wasn't even cooked right. When we complained about it (how bad the shrimp was and the absurd $6 charge) the manager had the nerve to say, ""well maybe you shouldn't have eaten it"". Needless to say i will never go there again and will do my best to let everyone i know not to go there either. Pros: high ceilings Cons: bad waitstaff, terrible manager, overcharged more

This was my first visit here, and I will never be back. I ordered a kids meal, and was chared an extra 2 dollar ""fee"" because i was over 12, eventhough the menu and waiter failed to mention that. When I asked about that at the end, the manager/owner was VERY RUDE and did not offer to fix it (if I would have been told upfront or if it was on the menu, I would not have a problem with it). All in all, do not go there unless you like to be treated like you are dumb. The manager/owner saw our credit cards ready to be charged, and just walked off while we had two kids who you could tell were ready to go. I dont see how people with this kind of an attitude last in the restaurant business.
