Amalfi's Pizza Italian Restaurant

This little place is pretty good to be tucked away in Statesville. It is one of my favorites when traveling through. The bread is amazing and I love a chicken, spinach and cream pasta dish they serve. The service is okay, but the price is right and I will always go back. I don't know why everyone aorund here loves this place. They're too small and VERY slow at checkout so much that if we go at lunch we have to call in our order then sit down and eat. The kitchen staff barely speaks English. Plus the fact that I've been there 5-10 times in a year's time and have never found anything good. The food is very good and traditional Italian fare thanks to its Italian staff and ownership. Anyone can make pasta and drown it in cheap sauces and a lb. of cheese, in my opinion Amalfis is still a little on the heavy side, but the sauces are well done and the flavors are allowed to be discerned and not buried beneath a blanket of mozzarella. I had the stuffed shells with vegetables and it was very good. My only knock on this and any restaurant in this area is that they are continuing to cheat their nonsmoking customers out of a great dining experience by having to put up with toxic and nauseous cigarette smoke thats not Amalfis fault although they could choose to pave the way and make it non smoking. Cafe Versace was till the best ever Italian food!!!! Pros: good menu size, authentic Italian more
