I have been going to the Alvin Restaurant in this location for a couple of years. The food is very retro/Junior League, but is also from-scratch good. Highlights are the mixed salads (broccoli; carrot/raisin), ""American"" entrees (meatloaf; grilled chicken), and bread pudding. Decor is distinctly downscale, which is fine with me given the prices, but this probably isn't the place for a GenYer to impress a date...
Very helpful and friendly staff. Food is fresh and the buffet rarely has an empty ""spot"" for more than a couple of minutes. I've gone there on a strict diet and eaten well, and I've gone for ""blowouts"" and also eaten well. In fact, this probably has the best affordable healthy options in Alvin...
Pros: Healthy and Notso options; great value
Cons: You get what you get
