Best Cat doc EVER!! 1/2/2012

Can't say enough good things about Dr Mathews and her staff. I brought my Circles in over 3 years ago after finding him by the side of the road near death. She is very thorough and caring, an obvious cat lover. We didn't need her again until recently when Circles started having seizures and gastro issues. Dr Mathews not only remember Circles from 3 years prior, she was very happy to see he was still alive and sorta chastised me for not bringing him in at least yearly for an exam and a bass line weight check. If I had done that, Dr Mathews could have gauged how much weight my Circles had lost during his illness more accurately than me guessing his weight prior to his illness. I've had many cats through out the years and basically thought I knew almost all there was to know about cats until I went to the Altamont Cat Hospital. I've turned on several of my neighbors to Dr Mathews and they agree as well. Prices are comparable to the Del Valle Vet I take my dog to. I could ta more

Dr Matthews is always 3 steps ahead of other Vets in my opinion.\r I've worked with Veterinarians for many years and Dr Matthews is the best I've ever seen. I have trusted her with 8 cats of my own. She not only tells us what to do for our cats, she explains why. She's an educator. She wants owners to be well informed about their cat care.The better a person understands, the better they can do. more

Great Vet & Hospital 9/24/2008

We have taken our cat to see Dr. Mathews for years. Our cat living with just mom and dad - no kids, is the kid in our house, she rules our roust! The cat means the world to us! Being so spoiled, she is opposed to getting along with other people including house sitters or Doctors.. She is a good girl for us but not to cooperative with anyone else. Dr. Mathews and Staff have worked with us to make sure our cat gets the best care in the most pleasant possible way. We really appreciate the knowledge and expertise about cats and also her gentle way with handling cat's. She takes the time to explain your cats needs. She is a wonderful doctor and person and we would not let anyone else care for our cat but Dr. Mathews..If you are a feline lover and want the best for your furry friends, I would highly recomment Dr. Mathews and the Altamont Cat Hospital - Diane, Mike and Punkin Wallace more

Cats-only Hospital 9/11/2008

Most people don't know what a poor job many "dog vets" do looking after our feline companions. They don't see many cats, for one thing, but they also don't keep up with feline medicine. Not here. This is a cats-only veterinary practice.\r \r I am convinced that Dr. Matthews saves the lives of many cats who would die with less knowledgeable care--including at least one of mine. I think two others would have lived longer had I avoided the local mostly-dog vets.\r \r Fees are reasonable, but the total could be higher for the more comprehensive care that's available. Fees are explained in advance and you can refuse what you can't afford.\r \r Having been here, I will no longer take a feline to any vet that isn't a feline specialist, except when one isn't available within a couple of hundred miles. more
