We paid $350 for 30 mins of boat use. To begin with, the guy was very rude and impatient when he dealt with us. He was not friendly at all. Once we got on the lake, barely 30 mins in, the boat shut off on us out of no where; it was dead. We couldn’t start it, so we called the guy, and he came out in a jet ski to see what had gone wrong. He couldn’t start it, so he towed us to the dock. After checking he said that since the lake is man made, there are trees under the water and we must have struck tree stubble. The boat is built in a way in which when something like this happens a horse-shoe pin breaks and once that happens the whole boat shuts off to prevent any damages to the electrical system. So he had to take the boat back to the shop to get it fixed and told us he’d get the boat back to us soon and we could complete our rental. We were told it wasn’t our fault, which it wasn’t, because firstly we were never told about trees under the water when we rented the boat, and secondly one can’t see under the water to begin with. Anyways he came back an hour later with a bill for $350. He charged us for the damages caused to the boat AND $200 for the 2 hour rental of of which we maybe used 30 mins. It was absolutely OUTRAGEOUS and not fair, but he wouldn’t budge. He wasn’t willing to work with us at all. In fact he was being extremely not friendly! We told him he could keep the $150 since he was threatening to keep the whole $800 that we put down as deposit, but at least refund an hour of the rental since the boat was in his shop rather than with us. But he wouldn’t even do that. It was a HORRIBLE experience. I wouldn’t recommend this rental place, period. In fact, avoid the lake too because if the “tree” story is true, then it’s a very poorly made lake. There are other lakes in the dallas region.
Cons: Paid $350 for 30 mins of boat rental! Rude Customer service
