Great Place!! 5/23/2011

Absolutely love this restaurant! The food is always good....favorites include gumbo, fried chicken, tuna, risotto, and mached potatoes. The blueberry bread pudding is the best in town. We like Almonds for special occasions or just a quick meal before a movie. Casual and comfortable. Small, family owned business with good service and good food. Like eating in your own kitchen but the food is good! more

Awesome place for consistently great food 10/16/2009

The atmosphere is good, the food is great, and the staff warm and personable. You know that when you go to Almond's, the gumbo is always going to be hot, delicious, and bottomless, the BBQ Shrimp perfectly cooked, longing for bread to sop up the broth, and the rest of the food will taste as delicious as the last time you were there. Pros: Menu selection, consistently great food, atmosphere Cons: They don't have one in Tulsa, OK more

Great Place! 1/21/2008

We love this restaurant...good food, affordable prices, friendly service!! We went to Almonds a couple of months ago and now we are regulars. Love the food....my husband has to have his Pan Fried Chicken fix. The gumbo, risotto, pasta and chopped salad are great. This is truly ""comfort"" food..best mashed potatoes in town. The wine list is also very reasonable. Our kids also love this restaurant. The owners truly care about your dining experience. We have only had good meals here. We constantly take our friends and family...so easy, no pretention. The casual atmosphere is a plus. Definitely a find for us. more

It's only a bargain if you enjoy it. 11/27/2007

We chose this restaurant on Dine for Life night as an excuse to try something new. To say that we found the wait staff inattentive is an understatment. I literally had to grab my server's arm to get her attention after we had been sitting for almost 20 mins. She stated that she would be right with us and proceeded to the wait station to fill a candy bowl full of chocolates. ??? Priorities anyone? \r I found the food to by so-so. Although the prices were very reasonable we didn't enjoy the food very much so any sense of value was diminished. We had the pan fried chicken and the pork tenderloin. Both were overcooked and dry. Perhaps this was a result of sitting under a heat lamp while our server busy elsewhere. I am not sure.\r We had really high expectations for this restaurant as it had been recommended by several sources. I think we will avoid it in the future. \r \r Pros: Ambience, good prices Cons: overcooked food, inattentive servers more

Best Spot, Best People 6/26/2006

There is no better value in St. Louis than at Almond's. One can have a bottle of wine, dinner, and dessert for less than $100. What's more important is the quality of the people that make this restaurant work. \r Yes, the food is very good, but the people are even better. Pros: People, price, and comfort food more

rude owner 6/12/2006

Charged a table of 4 women for an extra drink. When we told them we had 5, they insisted we had 6. The owner didn't do anything to stop the waitress from arguing. They wouldn't take it off. There are too many great restaurants in Clayton to go here. more

A Great Dinner 2/13/2003

Recently had dinner here w/a group of friends. Great atmosphere, even though it was busy, it was easy to have a conversation. Very cozy. Really surprised by how good the food was....satisfying soup (especially on such a cold night), tasty entrees in the perfect portions (not too much, not too little). We had cajun shrimp, the risotto special (I believe it was w/scallops and truffle oil, it was fabulous), and the pork tenderloin was excellent and the raspberry jalapeno sauce complimented it well. Will definitely be back. more
