Best

This place is great, the ambience, the location and the food. Great drinks, and great entrees. The prices get a little high if you order too many "sides," one may be enough at m...

Worst

First, they lost our reservation so we ended up at probably the worst table in the restaurant, right next to the kitchen. There was a constant flow of traffic, this was supposed t...

Very Impressive 7/17/2003

The mojitos are refreshing and the ceviche is delicious! Great decor and nice service. One of the better restaurants I have been to in Center City. Pros: Yummy Mojitos, Yummy Food, Great Decor more

AMAZING!! Definitely a treat! 5/24/2003

Went with some friends and rolled out of the restaurant completely satisfied! The Beef Tenderloin and Sea Bass were incredible! I couldn't stop eating, even after I was satisfied by the 3-choice ceviche, empanada and squid. It was one of the best meals I've had in the long time. Definitely a great meal! Pros: Amazing Food, Great Service more

What type of Cuban are you looking for? 11/5/2002

This place was great, but not awesome. I like S.S. ambience better at Tangerine. If you want to go here for a purely "Cuban thing", then let me tell you this: Alma de Cuba is more Miami-Cuban chic, whereas you have to go to Cuba Libre in Old City to get that Old-World Havana feel. Both serve excellent creative Cuban dishes, but comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges. Pros: Dim lighting, Creative dishes, Comfortable Temp. Cons: Pricey, Sparse ambience more

Oysters! 8/8/2002

This place is indeed sexy, but more importantly perhaps, the food is quite good. The oysters rodriguez in particular is worth the high prices. more

sexy hot 7/27/2002

WoW! what a sexy restaurant. I never had better service at a restaurant and the food is out of this world, the chef and owner must know what they are doing. Fun know it all staff. And the best Mojito in Philly. Pros: Great food, sexy bar more

Caliente!!!!!!!! 7/23/2002

That's a very sexy spot; Alma de Cuba supplies the right atmosphere for a hot-romantic night out. In addition, the food is great! Pros: Prices are reasonable, Great food, Pleasant staff Cons: Parking, Parking, Parking more

Awesome food even for a Cuban... 6/11/2002

Went there by myself on one of my first nights in Philadelphia, which normally spells bad service as in many restaurants, singles are all but ignored. But to my surprise, the service was good and the food was excellent. The roast pork was better than my Cuban grandmother... As I said before, the service was good, not excellent. But the quality of the food and the ambience... Mmmmm.... Pros: Food quality, Ambience, Location more

  • In Short
Three low-lit floors offer white, suede-soft seats, a glowing, red glass bar and vintage-looking wall projections of cigar-smoking musicians. The menu features island comfort foods including crab empanadas and fried oysters stuffed with spinach for starters. Entrees include tender rack of lamb decorated with mint leaves, halibut coated in fried plantain and tuna loin spiced with garlic and rum. A cigar-shaped cocoa-dusted almond cake with a baked book of matches is the popular dessert.
