2nd UPDATED Review.
5/25/2012
I have to give them credit. After writing the collection Dept. a letter denying that I should have to pay for the charges as mentioned below, I received a letter from collection saying they were referring me back to the Doctor, and dropping the charge. I also got a letter from Allison Derm saying I now owe no balance as it should have been in the beginning! I'm happy for that, but only wish they would have done the right thing in the first place. So, on that note I'm upping my stars and hoping they are training their front desk person to give the correct billing information.
First Review
After reading the reviews, I am sorry but I have to agree. They are dishonest.
On my last visit, I had a few spots I wanted checked out on my face and body. After I signed in and was examined, (not by Dr Allison, but the PA) the secretary came in and informed me that if I wanted just the facial spots frozen, it would be $180 which (included the doctor visit), and that I would have to pay on the spot! She informed me that if I wanted the other spot removed, they would have to biopsy it, even though she told me non were cancerous, and that would be another $300 or so due to lab work!
First off, I have always paid my bill, and was taken aback by their insisting I pay the full amount on the spot. I have insurance, but did inform them it was a 10K deductible. Being that I couldn't pay the full amount, I elected to have only the facial spots frozen, which took all of 5 seconds each. I agreed to and did pay the $180, even though I wanted the other spot removed. I couldnt afford it. I was told if the frozen spots didnt fall off in two weeks, they would refreeze them, which sounded to me like at no charge.
Next I get an additional bill for over $200! I reminded them by phone that I had elected NOT to have the other removed and biopsied, and there was a mistake. Also that the original spots did not go away, which the PA had indicated I could come back for a refreeze if they didnt.
I initially called to make them aware of the additional charge, as well as ask about redoing the freezing 2 weeks later. The I was told, it would now be another paid doctors visit. That was not the impression she gave me.
I also explained that the secretary had told me the charges would be $180, which I paid, but was told by the PA, that she didnt tell me that? Excuse me, I'm sorry, but I didnt make that up!! I based my decision on what procedure to have done that day based on what I was told.
I wrote Dr. Allison a letter about the situation, but received no reply. I now receive a notice saying I will be sent to collection. I've gotten no bill reminders, and not even a reply from her about the situation.
After reading other reviews I feel I was lied to also, as others have said the same thing. I don't care if the desk gal was misinformed, or out right lied, it shouldn't be my problem!
On a nice note, their office was nice. No waiting as no one was there. I went to them as the other dermatologists had a long waiting list. I guess that says something. I am not a complainer, and waited to post this review until I had heard back from Dr. Allison, however since I never have, and now am being sent to collection I feel the need to warn others.
