2nd UPDATED Review. 5/25/2012 I have 5/7/2012

2nd UPDATED Review. 5/25/2012 I have to give them credit. After writing the collection Dept. a letter denying that I should have to pay for the charges as mentioned below, I received a letter from collection saying they were referring me back to the Doctor, and dropping the charge. I also got a letter from Allison Derm saying I now owe no balance as it should have been in the beginning! I'm happy for that, but only wish they would have done the right thing in the first place. So, on that note I'm upping my stars and hoping they are training their front desk person to give the correct billing information. First Review After reading the reviews, I am sorry but I have to agree. They are dishonest. On my last visit, I had a few spots I wanted checked out on my face and body. After I signed in and was examined, (not by Dr Allison, but the PA) the secretary came in and informed me that if I wanted just the facial spots frozen, it would be $180 which (included the doctor visit), and that I would have to pay on the spot! She informed me that if I wanted the other spot removed, they would have to biopsy it, even though she told me non were cancerous, and that would be another $300 or so due to lab work! First off, I have always paid my bill, and was taken aback by their insisting I pay the full amount on the spot. I have insurance, but did inform them it was a 10K deductible. Being that I couldn't pay the full amount, I elected to have only the facial spots frozen, which took all of 5 seconds each. I agreed to and did pay the $180, even though I wanted the other spot removed. I couldnt afford it. I was told if the frozen spots didnt fall off in two weeks, they would refreeze them, which sounded to me like at no charge. Next I get an additional bill for over $200! I reminded them by phone that I had elected NOT to have the other removed and biopsied, and there was a mistake. Also that the original spots did not go away, which the PA had indicated I could come back for a refreeze if they didnt. I initially called to make them aware of the additional charge, as well as ask about redoing the freezing 2 weeks later. The I was told, it would now be another paid doctors visit. That was not the impression she gave me. I also explained that the secretary had told me the charges would be $180, which I paid, but was told by the PA, that she didnt tell me that? Excuse me, I'm sorry, but I didnt make that up!! I based my decision on what procedure to have done that day based on what I was told. I wrote Dr. Allison a letter about the situation, but received no reply. I now receive a notice saying I will be sent to collection. I've gotten no bill reminders, and not even a reply from her about the situation. After reading other reviews I feel I was lied to also, as others have said the same thing. I don't care if the desk gal was misinformed, or out right lied, it shouldn't be my problem! On a nice note, their office was nice. No waiting as no one was there. I went to them as the other dermatologists had a long waiting list. I guess that says something. I am not a complainer, and waited to post this review until I had heard back from Dr. Allison, however since I never have, and now am being sent to collection I feel the need to warn others. more

Allison Derm? I disagree with the 1 bad review. 8/30/2011

I have been a patient at Allison Dermatology since it opened in Bend in 2000. I have never had a problem, never had a bad time, only once had a billing issue (that was resolved quickly) and I think Dr. Allison is the best. Furthermore, the PA has been there 3 or 4 years and she has taken many basal cells off of me, never missed one yet. Maybe he had a bad time, but for me I wouldn't agree at all. Ray F. Sunriver more

Great Experience There! 8/30/2011

I want to write about the great experience I had at Allison Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center! They are very professional, very courteous and thorough. My skin cancer was not only diagnosed early and taken care of quickly, but the Physician Assistant was great at educating me about how to keep it from coming back. I would recommend this clinic to all of my friends and family. I have been to other dermatologists and doctors but I have never been treated so well and had such a good experience. Granted they are busy but they don't just rush you out the door like other doctors. I hope you will enjoy working with them as much as I did. Lilly G Redmond, OR more

They call themselves Skin Cancer ""Specialists?!"" 8/10/2011

ALLISON DERM COULDN'T EVEN RECOGNIZE SKIN CANCER WHEN IT'S BLATANTLY IN FRONT OF THEIR EYES! DR. MARK HALL OF CENTRAL OR DERM IDENTIFIED IT AT FIRST GLANCE!! I went to Allison Derm four different times for what I thought was overblown acne, turned weird infection.. Three very infected, oozing spots on my face that had been there for almost 2 years and wouldn't go away. They charged me $200 for the initial visit (both times). It was only $65 at Central OR Derm, by the way. But to the point.. They didn't help me whatsoever! I paid almost $1,000 for absolutely nothing and when I decided to try another Dermatologist (Dr. Mark Hall- Central OR Derm) he immediately diagnosed the lesions on my face as skin cancer. I was shocked! How could Allison Derm call themselves Skin Cancer ""Specialists"" when they couldn't identify a seemingly cut and dry case like mine?! Please don't waste your time or money at Allison Derm. I recommend Dr Hall at Central OR Derm. He can actually identify SKIN CANCER when he sees it. I hope this helps anyone making a decision on a Dermatologist! :) more

Stay Away 2/23/2011

I wouldn't recommend this office to my dearest enemies. 1. The front office lady is untruthful. I was between insurance companies and she quoted the max. due for the appt. scheduled - which was paid in full. Then 30 days later, we received a bill for an additional $100.00. After talking with the billing department, it was her word against ours and we have a bill that I'm not willing to pay. The woman (at the front desk) also mislead us on several scheduled appointment. Appointments that should have been only 1 appt., BUT instead she created them to be two. Very convenient for billing insurances and receiving extra funds of their office, especially when they continue to increase their quoted costs. 2. The main doctor did two horrible surgical incisions, that I've had to see other doctors about. All other surgeons have been surprised by how large and bad the incisions are for the procedure done. I'm upset with myself for trusting her and their office staff. Now I'm stuck with these 2.5-3"" scars unless I'm willing to pay and have them fixed Only positive comment; they got me in fairly quickly. Which was the main reason I went to them...be warring. They are not a professional faculty. more

Office and Billing procedures dissatisfactory 3/20/2010

The P.A. that treated me did so quite well, my medical needs were taken care of excellently. However the woman working at the front assured my the large sum of money that she was charging me then and there for my visit would be my maximum payment. However, I was sent a bill two months later for an extra $250.00. I called their billing department and they pretended to look into it, but all I can say is that you cannot trust the person at the fronts' words to you, make sure you get everything in writing. I feel cheated out of money that they most certainly would have made at a later appointment of mine, now they will never see me or my friends and family there again. Pros: Great care while in the building and medical skill Cons: Insufficient information when taking your money. more
