The Allentown Art Festival is one of Buffalo's jewels as well as the official start of summer in Western New York. The Festival is the second largest art festival in the country and yearly brings in 450 exhibitors from all over the US and Canada. This year's festival, the 45th, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 8th and 9th from 11:00am to 6:00pm, and as always, is free. It is held amid the streets of Allentown's rich architectual uniqueness and charm. The Allentown Village Society will be awarding prizes in 10 media categories as well as the yearly poster contest. The Society, documented and preserved by the U.S. Library of Congress, also yearly awards 6 scholarships as well as donations to numerous local art societies. This year's theme is ""United We Stand 9-11-2001""
