Allen's Camera-Video Transfer

Please, if you cherish your family memories, DO NOT take your mini tapes, VHS's, 8mm, whatever, to have them transferred over to DVD's. I should of read the other reviews regarding tape transfers...my bad! I gave them 5 mini tapes and 1 VHS to transfer. When I received them back they were HORRIBLE!! Jumpy and fuzzy. I returned them and they said they knew they were having trouble with the transfer machine and had just bought a new one. Then they told me that a lot of people had returned tapes. Okay...things happen. I gave them the bad DVD's and my tapes again. I picked them up and after closer review noticed that I had only received the 1 VHS and 2 mini tapes back along with the bad and newly made DVD's with them. I was missing 3 of the mini tapes with correlating DVD's. I spoke with Mike in SLC, Ethan the owner and Kassie in Provo. All were very polite and sincere. But, they looked everywhere and have totally and completely lost about 6 years of memories....my children growing up and family members that have since passed away...I am heart broken. Ethan assures me that he thinks they will pop up where they least expect it. I can only hold out hope. This is their business. They are dealing with people's most treasured memories. These tapes can not be replaced. Stay far, far away from Allen's Camera. more

Good: They have everything i have asked for.. Bad: Their prices may be higher than somewhere else like Costco. But they give you advice on good and bad features of cameras. This advice takes their time, and the way to courteously pay for consultation is to pay slightly higher (maybe and maybe not) for the cameras and other things that they sell. Improvements: I like what is already there.. Other: The staff knows what they are talking about, they are not "Just Hires. What is a camera?". more

This is a great, authentic, old-school camera store. Allen's camera offers a wide variety of film, camera and frames with a pretty wide range of prices. But... like so many other places, you get what you pay for. The expensive stuff is great, the cheaper stuff is... cheap. As for photo work, their lab is really good and they can give you exactly the quality their looking for. For the most part, the staff is both qualified and knowledgeable to help you with your photography needs. They're also friendly and helpful. And about as expensive as most good quality photo places.
