At All About Town Pet House Calls I believe in preventive medicine through periodic patient monitoring. Performing annual or semi annual physical examinations, wellness exams (blood tests), fecal examinations and other parasite testing are the tools used to monitor your pets health and keep them happy and healthy for as long as possible. Vaccinations have always been the core of our preventive medicine protocols and they are in deed important. We are learning through experience and research that vaccination of our pets on an annual basis may no longer be neccessary. It is my desire to ultimately get all of my patients on rotating schedules of receiving the core vaccines (Rabies and Distemper) every three years. Canine Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination is still recommended at least annually for patients going to boarding kennels, groomer, and dog parks. The feline leukemia vaccine is recommended annually for our feline patients that go outside and may be at risk with coming into contact with other outdoor cats
