I was a regular at Alfredo's Pizza Villa for over 6 years until recently. What changed my mind about this friendly, smiling character and his restaurant? Well, once you get past him constantly yelling at his employees and cursing at people on the phone, the food is pretty good. But a week or so ago I was in there and heading towards the restrooms, located on the right of the counter, to wash my hands before my slices were heated. I happened to take a gander into the back of the restaurant and I could not believe my eyes! There was a younger member of the staff with his entire, ungloved hand/arm, covered in red sauce, coming out of this huge container. I'm going to assume that's what they make the sauce in. Alfredo was there, so I asked him ""what is that guy doing back there?"" He replied, ""well, some of these f***in' guys are so stupid they slip and fall sometimes."" It looks to me like he was using his arm to mix sauce. Apart from that, I have been given pizza from the previous day on many occasions. I guess the workers have learned to give an up-front excuse by telling you they are going to ""check the back oven"" then you hear some kind of freezer door open and shut. \r
Today I was craving pizza, so my GPS took me to Randy's Pizza towards Durham because I was out on the road. I took a look at the menu because I had never been there before and I saw that you can get extra toppings on individual slices. Now, I have asked the staff at Alfredo's and Alfredo himself many times to add some toppings. They tell me ""we can't put raw toppings on the pizza because the h3alth dept won't let us."" Today at Randy's I asked ""Isn't it illegal to add toppings to already cooked slices?"" They replied, ""Lord no, who on earth told you a thing like that?"" So in my mind I'm thinking, 'Alfredo himself would rather blatently lie about something to my face than just say ""sorry, we don't do that"". Give me a break. I'll never go back there and I hope other people are smart enough to do the same.
Pros: Lots of seating because the seats are always empty
Cons: Loudmouth owner cursing in Italian at you and you don't even know it.
