Conservatory 4/20/2006

The Lincoln Park conservatory is a great place to visit during the summer. You can walk through the conservatory and admire the beautiful flowers and plants they have. Some of the flowers are arranged really really beautifully. You will get to see a lot of great plants and exotic flowers here. There's lots of little ponds and fountains here too. Its a great place to go for a nice stroll or to take the entire family for a nice day out. Its free too! more

Serenity Now 4/3/2006

This historic conservatory was built over one hundred years ago. Origionally it's use was to be a giant greenhouse to take care of all the plants and flowers that were going to be planted in the new Lincoln Park Zoo. Now that the history lesson is over, today it is still a giant greehnouse that is the home for exoctic plants of all types from around the world. This place has an air of serenity and with it's giant garden in front of the building , this has been a popular place for weddings and wedding photos. They will actually rent you a room inside the conservatory for a wedding ceremony. more

The cactus can hurt 3/8/2006

The conservatory is a large walk through jungle. It houses just about any plant that you can find. There are also fish swimming throughout its indoor ponds, and if you can look patiently around the rocks towards the back doors you can get a look at the pet iguana that resides there. It is a nice retreat on a cold Chicago day. more

Urban oasis 1/10/2006

The Lincoln Park conservatory is a little tropical paradise that you can visit anytime. If the Hawk rules the streets in Chicago, come here and find respite. If you are not familiar with the late Lou Rawl's lyric, the Hawk is the winter wind. This is a little gem that is always a treat to walk through, and the price is right: Free. As you enter there is a little pond with Koi and goldfish. Orchids on the walls waft their scent into your waiting nostrils. Walk through and enjoy the great variety of plants. The climax is the flower room, with its changing displays of seasonal favorites. This place was made for picture taking, so bring your camera. http://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/parks.detail/object_id/45AA3ED2-7C6F-4461-83B2-29CB991637E6.cfm more
