Best

I love this place. I drive here from the Bay area on the weekend to eat the wonderful huevos rancheros or sample the quiche. This is not the bakery for the snobbish 'fancy-Napa'...

Worst

I was not highly impressed with this bakery. I met the owner briefly and she seemed to be in a very sour mood and did not smile or reach out to guests. The food was OK, but there ...

At the butt crack of dawn, met retired 6/7/2012

At the butt crack of dawn, met retired radio superstar ""Martin in the Morning"" at one of his local haunts in Napa, CA, the Alexis Baking Company (ABC). We were in search of a quality breakfast, and avoided the usual Sunday crowds by being in attendance at opening bell. Martin went with his usual hotcakes, Mrs. BDB opted for ""Creme Brulee French Toast"", and I skipped the whole chicken and egg debate, and got a side of ham, a side of sausage, and some Asiago toast. (Even tho they do offer a breakfast burger!) The ham was nice, the breakfast sausage from hoity-toity purveyor Fra' Mani, and the links were fairly traditional breakfast sausage, meaning (to me) a mildly-spiced pork product, reminiscent of English bangers. The Creme Brulee French toast was over the top decadent, the kind of dish most people can hardly make a dent in. Such was the case at our table. Alexis is a very dependable weekend breakfast stop in Napa. Check them out. more

Best bakery 10/21/2008

I love this place. I drive here from the Bay area on the weekend to eat the wonderful huevos rancheros or sample the quiche. This is not the bakery for the snobbish 'fancy-Napa' tourist types. This is for people who love really good food but don't need to be coddled. I recommend it for a nice start to your weekend! more

Not the best bakery compared to Yountville area bakeries 9/3/2006

I was not highly impressed with this bakery. I met the owner briefly and she seemed to be in a very sour mood and did not smile or reach out to guests. The food was OK, but there was a wait and most of the line was for coffee only, so they could improve that experience. Also, the half and half was not fresh.. I had better experience at Bouchon bakery in Yountville. The food there was amazing and the staff knew how to handle crowds. Overall, Alexis baking company is not bad, but the location is not great and I think Yountville ( with Gordon's cafe and Bouchon) is a better location for true ""wine country: experiences. Cons: Cream in coffee not fresh.Food only average. more

Best hamburger in the world! 6/14/2005

Alexis Baking Company, or ABC, as we locals call it. Buffalo Chip cookie is a chocolate lover's orgasm: gooey chocolate chunks in a dark chocolate cakey cookie with big nuts; Best Damn Lemon Cake is dense, moist and tart; and the Hamburger with Gorgonzola is pure red meat indulgence served on tasty potato bun and accompanied by a ceasar salad with homebaked croutons. A hang out for locals. Very casual and small. Not the least bit pretentious or stuffy. For breakfast try their version of huevos rancheros. Yummy! My favorite place to go for a quick sweet or when I have a craving for a burger without the fries. Wonderful mini pies and tarts too. Just an overall good place to eat, talk and read the paper (and you can even people watch or eavesdrop on local winemakers talking about their latest deals and winemaking perils.) Pros: Food, Food, Food Cons: Location, Service, Price more

This was a great place, Like your Mom's kitchen. 2/15/2005

Food was so good. Homecooking at it's best! Fresh O.J. thick bacon, home made english muffins. Wow! These people know how to cook and take care of their customers. Good after you have a long day and night at the wineries and dinner. I just wished I could take them home to cook for me, everyday. There is a wait, but it is worth it! Pros: Great Homecooked Food, Nice Staff., Good Service! more
