I was looking for employment as a nanny when I discovered Alexandria School. With 19 years of experience as a professionally trained nanny, I thought that additonal education would be redundant...I was wrong!
I wish that Alexandria School was in operation when I first decided to be a nanny.
The program I took focuses on nannies with previous experience. The thoroughness of the curriculum and the experienced and knowledgeable staff taught me so much! How to introduce using computers to our charges (children); healthy meal planning and preparation; interview preparation and presentation, field trip preparation, experience, and follow-up; newborn care; creative play; communication with parents and families; baby sign language; child abuse awareness; health; how to work with children with special needs such as ADD, ADHD, & other learning disabilities; and much more. The staff is available to answer questions and offer support. Eileen has done a great job helping me find employment with wonderful children.
The facility itself is tremendous with a library stocked full of books and computers, classrooms, full kitchen for meals and classes, giant playroom, and the newest technologies for learning how to be an amazing nanny for wonderful families. Carolyn Stuhlberg (owner and instructor) has a passion for teaching nannies the right way to be professional and helpful. A Nannypalooza event was hosted by Carolyn in her school! Open to parents, grandparent, and nannies, classes are offered for updating certifications regularly.
My experience here made me feel more prepared than ever to assist families and make a difference. I refer many people to Alexandria School for a nanny education, finding nannies for families, and community classes for parents and grandparents. Thank you, Carolyn and Eileen!
