Vic Alexander saved my horse's life 3/22/2012

Vic Alexander saved my horse's life when she had a severe infection. No question. I saw him save the life of another horse at our barn who had a severe impaction. He's expensive, but so are the other vets I have used. He has state-of-the-art medical equipment that I've seen him use to do some amazing things, and I would guess his overhead is high with expenses like that. Few of us work the kind of hours he does. He is well respected by people I know in the veterinarian field and horse world. That's the best recommendation of all. more

Watch out for this guy!!!! 5/4/2011

IMHO: I hired Dr Alexander on a recommendation from someone who heard him speak at a forum. True, he is VERY smart and knows his stuff....but don't be fooled...he is out to sell services, period. And in 'my' opinion prays on the people he works for. He will feed you a line of BS as he works you into believing the horse needs all kinds of tests to determine what best course of action is needed. Simple stuff like common fixes that any somewhat experienced horse owner knows all about. Yet he orders ALL kinds of expensive tests that any ""far less"" experienced vet can diagnose in 2 seconds. Really creepy!!!! Stay away from this guy unless you are clueless and have deep pockets and like mental abuse. more

The first vet I call 6/15/2010

I've been using this vet for over a decade and am amazed by his ability to quickly diagnose most problems. He has a great feel for horses and is always very thorough in his descriptions of what is wrong and what he is doing. In fact, he usually explains things a couple times in a row using different words, just to be sure that you've got it. He will explain treatment options but they are always OPTIONS and he will not use the guilt trip method some vets use in order to push a certain course of treatment. He used to occasionally run very late but that has been much better now that he employs another vet in his practice. Dr.Alexander- a little sleazy.... 12/9/2009

After comparing notes to other horse owners that have used Dr.Alexander, I discovered he is known for this kind of tactic- price gouging and manufacturing charges. I was particularly turned off when he handed me a bill with an unexplained charge after seeing my horse. I asked what the mysterious added charge was for and he charged me just for making conversation with him while he saw my horse! Yuck! He didn't even mention it, he thought he could just slide an additional charge in there without me noticing or something! Sleazy! Use Banks Vet instead!
