Excellent Food, great service. Highly recommend! 1/26/2012

My Wife and I were in San Antonio recently and we were having trouble finding a good Italian restaurant. We looked online and found a website called www.sanantoniobestrestaurant,com we found Aldo's Restaurante Italiano. I would never have known about this place otherwise. The atmosphere in their pictures looked great so we gave it a shot. I immediately saw a dish I wanted to try called scallopine caprusso, which is veal stuffed with asiago and prosciutto. It really surpassed my expectations. It was authentic tasting and very good. My wife had the pollo marsala which she enjoyed. The service was great and friendly. I will be eating at this place again soon. more

Aldo's food is really good but service is slow 10/8/2010

Really good food, reasonable prices but service is slow. We had a party of 12 on 7 Oct 10 w/ 7:00 reservations. We were seated immedately as soon as all the party arrived. Atmoshpere was okay, but it would have been better with some soft music playing in the background. Waiter was a little chilly / unfriendly. He was spread too thin waiting on too many tables. Usually when you go to a nice restaurant you expect better service than a chain but Aldo's didn't live up to that. we had to ask repeatedly for bread & drinks. Took us 3 hours from arrival to checks. They would hit a home run if their service matched their good food. Didn't like the fact that 18% gratuity was already added in for large parties because they didn't earn it. more

Wonderful food, staff and atmosphere! 3/5/2009

I've been eating at Aldo's since I was young. The food is always wonderful and the staff is always curteous and kind. They're also great with large parties. My prom party dined there (there were 10 of us) and the food was prepared quickly and tasted amazing! This is the best italian restaurant in San Antonio! Pros: Great food, staff and ambiance! Cons: A bit pricey. more

Yummy! 3/3/2009

To the old lady below me; just because your server asked you if you wanted one bag does not imply that you and your girlfriend are married. I am a server and am completely discouraged by your attitude. Maybe he assumed you were sisters, or that both of the food was going to one house? And, you could've told the restaurant you wanted to sit inside rather then outside, from what I know of the restaurant you aren't even that close to Fredericksburg Road anyways, and it being 7pm at night I highly doubt it was as bad as you are complaining it is. No one made you sit outside you could've sat somewhere else. more

Great place to share Valentine's Day 2/15/2009

This was our second time dining at Aldo's and I must say that we need to go more. We had not really made plans for one of the busiest dining days of the year and as we called around town waits were up to 3 hours long! Ouch. My finance called Aldos and asked if they were taking reservations and walk in's. They told us that they could take us at around 9:00, it was already 8:15, so we signed up. Upon arriving they still had a bit of a wait, but sitted us within a min or two. There was no 3 hour wait here. I was impressed. The food was great and so was the service. We had a night cap or coffee (Cain's my fav) and Tiramisu (was perfect-not to sweet). The night was romantic and hassle free. Thanks for a great night. We will come again soon. Pros: Ambience and Food Cons: where you may get sitted more

Upgrade the server staff 1/13/2009

We were two well-dressed ladies in our 60s and were seated in the glassed in porch area with other 7:00 pm guests. We didn't see the inner part of the restaurant so don't know of its ambiance. Our view was the outdoor seating area and the traffic on Fredericksburg Rd. At the end of the meal when we asked for take home boxes, the server asked if we wanted one bag for the boxes. I am married. She is not. Our demeanor had been professional throughout the meal. He was implying that we were a couple by asking if we wanted one bag. Normally I don't write reviews, but I was astounded that he would say that. My husband and I are never asked in advance, before boxes are brought, if we want one bag. more

waitstaff ruins a well-prepared meal twice!! 9/29/2006

spend you dinner money elsewhere!! well, we tried aldos for the second time, and, the wait staff was rude to us, again! we are both in our 40's and dress appropriately for dinner out, so i am not sure why we had two different waiters that were smart-mouthed and almost rude, first of all we ordered chilled wine; the bottle was brought to us and wine was poured..and the cold bottle sat on our table for almost 15 minutes, we finally asked for a ice bucket and one was brought. when we ordered our meal the waiter stuck(yes, stuck) the menus right up into my husbands face my husband said i know what i want to order, you really don't need to do that. at the salad course, the waiter came to my left and cracked black pepper on the salad, then asked my husband(who was on my right) if he wanted some, he said yes, then this waiter reached right across my face with his arm to grind my husbands pepper and i said , please don't do that!! and i pushed his arm away, he should have gone around the table ,not reached right in front of me. good waitstaff knows better than to do these things! i suspect that if you come in there with a large party, or are VERY well dressed, and a regular, the service would be better, and i find it very interesting that at the very end of the meal, all of a sudden the waiters (on both occasions) got much more friendly ...can you spell tip-time??. needless to say, we do not plan to return, there are much better italian places to dine in san antonio Pros: good foot Cons: bad service more

Bad servers 7/9/2006

Food was good but our server was not very helpful or prompt. He took too long to take our order. We asked for a wine menu and he only told us two wines they offerred and did not bring us a wine menu. The food was good we just had a terrible server. I also did not appreciate how disrespectful they were when I walked in and one of the wait staff looked at me up and down never even greeted me--you figure that one out. Pros: Good food, Nice Atmosphere Cons: Terrible Service, Disrespectful Service more

Love Aldo's 10/29/2005

Aldo's is a perfect place for a romantic dinner and great Italian food. Service is excellent and the wine list is wonderful. It's the best Italian in San Antonio Pros: service, menu, romantic more

Aldo's is my favorite restaurant. 12/14/2004

The staff at Aldo's has always gone above and beyond in making the dining experience wonderful. For my graduation dinner, I made reservations for 16 people. At no extra charge, and without me having to ask, the staff at Aldo's cordoned off a part of the restaurant for my special party. To top it off, the piano player serenaded us with all of our favorite requests. The food is to die for and the ambience is so soft and magical that you forget where you are. Everyone is treated like royalty when they arrive and they feel like family when they leave. Do everything possible to visit Aldo's! more

Aldo's 6/12/2003

I eat at this restaurant every time I'm in San Antonio. They have a very elegant atmosphere, yet a relaxed environment. Waitstaff are prompt, courteous, and non-intrusive. As a business woman travelling by myself, I appreciate excellent restaurants that do not take it amiss when a woman is dining independently. I have yet to order a dish I was not happy with. Definitely a 10 on all counts. more

Always Outstanding 7/29/2002

I have been dining at Aldo's for nearly 20 years and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious, waiters are prompt and courteous and atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. A good romantic restaurant as well. more
